Version question

Hello, I am trying to run a simulation for the IEA-15MW wind turbine. When I use the latest version (5.0.0), it fails to run; however, when using version 4.2.1 and 4.2.0, I encounter the error message shown in the image. Could you please advise on what modifications are needed to get it running correctly?

Hello, I'm not an expert but I guess that you're using pitch or torque control with "user-defined from Bladed-style DLL" in ServoDyn file. The ConvTol error comes from the new version update:

OpenFAST | 12 | ConvTol | 1e-4 ConvTol - Convergence iteration error tolerance for tight coupling generalized alpha integrator (-) -- | -- | -- | --

I have this turbine version updated, if it helps I attach it.

Hello, I tried using the v5 that you provided, but it still wouldn't run; however, the error now occurs in HydroDyn. How should I modify it to fix this?

It doesn't look like your HydroDyn input file is updated for OpenFAST v5. You are missing NAddDOF on line 27 and HstMod on line 61.

However, when I looked for IEA data via GitHub, I found only version 4.2.0; there was no 5.0.0 version available. Could you tell me where I might find the HydroDyn files for both version 4.2.0 and 5.0.0 so I can compare them and make the necessary modifications?

Dear @wufangyun92,

My understanding is that the IEA Wind repository is waiting to upgrade their OpenFAST models to v5 until v5.0.1 is released (expected soon), which resolves several core issues with the initial v5.0.0 release.

In the meantime, you can compare input file changes between v4.2.x and v5.0.x by reviewing models available in the OpenFAST r-test: https://github.com/OpenFAST/r-test/releases.
