New German Translation Progress #317
Description
Maintainer List
For New Translators
To translate a page:
- Check that no one else has claimed your page in the checklist and comments below.
- Comment below with the name of the page you would like to translate. Please take only one page at a time.
- Clone this repo, translate your page, and submit a pull request!
Before contributing, read the glossary and style guide (once they exist) to understand how to translate various technical and React-specific terms.
Please be prompt with your translations! If you find that you can't commit anymore, let the maintainers know so they can assign the page to someone else.
For Maintainers
When someone volunteers, edit this issue with the username of the volunteer, and with the PR. Ex:
- Quick Start (@tesseralis) #12345
When PRs are merged, make sure to mark that page as completed!
Main Content
To do before releasing as an "official" translation. Please translate these pages first.
Note that each section has an index page, which needs to be translated too.

Navigation and UI
We suggest to leave most of the UI translation until the end. We plan to do some invasive changes to the website folder layout and components, so postponing this until your translation is almost complete would make it easier to merge the changes from our side later. It might make sense to translate the homepage above the fold early, but leave the rest for later. As individual pages get translated, you can change the page titles in the corresponding sidebar files. Finally, when you're translating the navigation, make sure to test both desktop and mobile layouts.
- Homepage (currently in
HomeContent.js) (@timowenz ) - Sidebars (currently in
src/sidebar*.json) - Top-level navigation (currently in
TopNav.tsx)
When You're Ready...
After everything above is translated, add your language to deployedLanguages in Seo.tsx of the original reactjs/react.dev repository.
Secondary Content
These API pages should ideally be translated too, but they're less urgent and can be done after the others:
- Legacy React APIs
-
Children -
cloneElement -
Component -
createElement -
createFactory -
createRef -
isValidElement -
PureComponent
-
Optional Content
These aren't the main translation targets, but if you'd like to do them, feel free to expand the list to include their subpages:
- Community
- Blog
- Warnings

krsilas commentedon Apr 25, 2023
I would be interested to help in the reference section and start with the general introduction to hooks.
gaearon commentedon Apr 25, 2023
@ph1p Alright, I'll leave the current list as is, but if you don't hear from other maintainers for some period of time, please send a PR to trim down the list to who's active.
ChrisB9 commentedon Apr 25, 2023
@gaearon I am still there, too, but not as active as @ph1p
TheFireCircle commentedon Apr 25, 2023
Hi, there are a lot of differences indeed. @jackblackCH can probably recycle a bunch of common things. Sadly, the effort which went into the last translation is obsolete now. But I can understand that @jackblackCH wants to start over.
marvhock commentedon Apr 26, 2023
Hi, I would like to take the following:
ChrisB9 commentedon Apr 26, 2023
@krsilas added you
@marvhock added you, but just one at a time, trying to prevent stale translation processes
tburakonat commentedon Apr 26, 2023
Hi I would like to translate the Quick Start page!
miku86 commentedon Apr 29, 2023
I'm not that much into React anymore, but I'm open to help to discuss pull requests, language-wise.
krsilas commentedon May 15, 2023
I can do "Add React to an Existing Project" next.
ChrisB9 commentedon May 15, 2023
Sounds good, I'll add you
ThomasSpornraft commentedon May 15, 2023
"Add React to an Existing Project" is already done. I thought i am assigned to the whole "Installation" section. Sorry for the confusion
I am almost done, think one "Deep Dive" section to go and then read through again.
just commited my latest state
Installation - done
Start a New React Project - done
Add React to an Existing Project - done
Editor Setup - done
React Developer Tools - untouched
zFl4wless commentedon Jul 14, 2023
I would like to translate Editor Setup page
Dlurak commentedon Oct 5, 2023
I would like to translate React Developer Tools
Dlurak commentedon Oct 5, 2023
I would also want to translate Your First Component
Dlurak commentedon Oct 6, 2023
Is there a reason Using TypeScript isn't in the list?
ChrisB9 commentedon Oct 8, 2023
Probably because the todo list might be out of date
timowenz commentedon Jul 17, 2024
Would like to translate the landing page if no one has already done that.
ChrisB9 commentedon Jul 17, 2024
@timowenz go ahead, currently no one is working on anything so feel free 👍
chrizzlekicks commentedon Feb 3, 2025
Hello, is anyone working on the landing page? The last post seems from July 2024, would love to take that one over if possible.
(Let's breathe some fresh air into the translation process!)
timowenz commentedon Feb 4, 2025
I think it's already finished. You can check my PR here: #387 . If you have any recommendations or fixes you can edit the PR. Also someone with read/write acccess has to prove it.
chrizzlekicks commentedon Feb 4, 2025
Sounds good, will have a look @timowenz 👍
Also, I have two PRs, which tackle some typos in the README and in the Thinking in React page, which need some review.
And perhaps if possible, I'd like to translate Importing and Exporting Components page, for starters 🚀
ChrisB9 commentedon Feb 5, 2025
Sure, you can take it on and @ me once done, I'll review asap :)
Tharg0r commentedon Oct 6, 2025
I would like to translate the Importing and Exporting Components page. If @chrizzlekicks is still working on it (though not tagged in the checklist), I'll take Writing Markup with JSX.
ChrisB9 commentedon Oct 16, 2025
of course, go ahead, i havent heard from that since feb so just give it a go
Tharg0r commentedon Oct 20, 2025
Could you review / approve #442, please?
mtkl6 commentedon Nov 2, 2025
I would like to translate JavaScript in JSX with Curly Braces.
ChrisB9 commentedon Nov 20, 2025
@mtkl6 sure thing! ill add you
m0-dev commentedon Dec 4, 2025
Hey, I would like to translate "Your First Component" (Learn React --> Describing the UI)
ChrisB9 commentedon Dec 4, 2025
@m0-dev sure :) then please revive this PR #349
