The shipped Cam96 quantizes 12 unrelated 8-d halves and sums 12 distances. Its rails are therefore twelve indices, not the six relations that the facet plan and the needle/pair entry specify. The spec moves each rail to (nearest : second-nearest) in ONE per-subspace codebook. Byte 0 alone is the 48-bit point code. The pair's value is the per-subspace Fisher-z table cell, i.e. the spread. Word distance is taken in z-space. A pre-registered held-out measurement chooses among three candidate formulas, against the 12-axis (0.774) and 48-bit (0.617) baselines. The spec also names: - the version gate: new artifact magics and a newtype code; - the persisted EpisodicBasin self-code, which needs a read-mode marker first; - the move of the Fisher-z codec into the contract; - the blocker: the 96-d embeddings are not in the release. Board: plan index, D-C96P-1..8, a verified-in-code entry, and ISS-PAIRPALETTE-IS-TWO-AXES-NOT-A-PAIR for the same shape in the contract's PairPalette. No code changed. … magics Two review corrections: - The G1 report now asks for separate rows. R3 (first byte only) is reported beside the 48-bit point (0.617). The 96-bit RQ point (0.786) is its own baseline, from train_codebook.py's rq_fit arm. - G6 now requires all four loader rejections, including the pair of 12-byte code files (CAM96WD1 / CAM96PW1). The type test cannot protect deserialized bytes. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01DCEP2fZdHYdMCtcEVcTpS2

A canonical min:max order can put c2 in byte 0. That breaks G2's byte-for-byte match against the 48-bit point code and makes R3 score the wrong byte. The order is therefore settled rather than left open. Any future change to it must update section 3.1, G2 and R3 together. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01DCEP2fZdHYdMCtcEVcTpS2
The council ran in order: the five savants, then draft v2, then the three reviewers on v2 only, then fixes and v3. The reading of 6 × (FisherZ:FisherZ) was contested among three readings: A (two nearest centroids), B (two Fisher-z values) and D (the table dual). It is resolved as the operator's merge M: - byte 0 is the needle a; - byte 1 is (j : t), the j-th fixed neighbour b of a and the position t along the arc a->b. The merge unifies the resonance and segment readings through t = theta_a / phi. A, B and D become M's ablations under a pre-registered decision table. Similarity is the exact reconstruction cosine from Gram cells and norms, which is the baseline metric itself. Reviewer blocks fixed: - G1's bar is an in-harness retrained control, not figures measured on absent embeddings. - The pair-code loader returns a view, never raw [u8;12] (which alias Cam96). - Every deliverable lands with its board rows in the same commit. Authorized: D-C96P-0 (harness) and D-C96P-1 (codec move). The rest waits on the embeddings and operator questions Q1-Q5. v1 and v2 are marked superseded and kept as the record. Ratified: [a,b] = (nearest, second-nearest) two full palette bytes per subspace, read as NeedlePair by ClassView election; similarity = Fisher-z table reads over the active planes with one shared gamma and Z_SELF by address; the masks are an escalation cascade graded PROPOSAL (D-CPW-12); COCA levers with f = reading share and c from ln(1+freq), triple edges on the T_0 semiring, register-F; F23 three reference sets with a ReferenceSet in every reading contract, a (lemma, PoS) correspondence artifact and gate G-REF (measured: 3 of 4,264 shared words ordinal-aligned across the 5k and 20k). A word is one pair (a:b): two palette256 needles superposed, its cell in the 256x256 LUT. A facet's 12 bytes are six words of the sentence. No embedding subspaces, no per-subspace codebooks, no witness, no rails, no basin:identity. …t two poles Artifact check: nothing assigns a word two needles (COCA CAM-PQ gives six, one per subspace; bgz17 nearest gives one; nearest:second-nearest was v1's own invention). Operator pins the unit: six lexical slots per 96-bit payload, each two-byte address resolving to a declared lemma+PoS reading in an immutable, versioned lexical codebook (ReferenceSet); the driver supplies the relational reading, Fisher-z calibrated. Embeddings are an optional comparison instrument, never the runtime intermediary; reconstruction is not an acceptance criterion. Corrects the previous commit's over-correction. The baton metaphor names the same ALU register as it passes from one cycle into the next; PR #477 tombstoned the inter-mailbox emission wire, not that. Rewords the cascade/advance/mailbox_soa comments, the dto-soa-savant row, the guardrails vocabulary row and v5 correction 3; TECH_DEBT strikes apply_edges from the residue list (it is the register entering a row for the next cycle). Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01DCEP2fZdHYdMCtcEVcTpS2
The metaphor answers "how does it reach the next cycle"; deleting it makes the next session ask. Restores "baton" in the mailbox_soa / backing docs and GENETIC_RESEARCH_VIA_STACK, each glossed as the ALU register handed to the next cycle. Guardrails: baton leaves the tombstoned row (only the inter-mailbox emission wire is tombstoned) and the CausalEdge64 row says keep the word. …pec only) The socket the lexical/cognitive stack lowers into already exists: lance-graph-mask-risc's IR (Program, Planes/LaneRef/Foreign, Value/Out). lance-graph-quack is the DuckDB-shaped surface above it, not the ABI. - The six proposed verbs reduce to three families already in the IR: MASK, TRANSPORT (Gather / ScatterOrU32 / EqU32Via / GroupKey::Via), REDUCE (one terminal). SELECT would be the forbidden SelectionVector; multi-hop traversal is OPEN. - CausalEdge64 crosses as a borrowed u64 lane via edges_raw(); it is not an IR type (its layout is feature-gated) and is never re-encoded. - Firewall: mask-risc depends on ndarray only, through ndarray::simd; forbidden crates named. - Falsifiers G-SOCK-1..5. Exact equality is honest because the IR is integer-only. Measured gap: MatchU64 is exercised only at bits 12-15. - Open: Arrow ListArray needs a segment view (ISS-MASK-RISC-HAS-NO-SEGMENT-VIEW). No code. The next PR adds two test files to mask-risc (§11.8). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01DCEP2fZdHYdMCtcEVcTpS2
Revises §11 the same day after reading #1305's committed work (support is not bag; forward chains give terminal support only; DataFusion counts walks; consumer_semantics() names five carrier kinds). - Stable socket: population, relation (a population with two index lanes, not a fourth primitive), step(observation) -> answer or Insufficient. mask-risc's MASK/TRANSPORT/REDUCE move below it as lowering vocabulary. - One directed hop is one existing mask-risc Program over the edge table; the five #1305 kinds map onto its five observations exactly at k = 1. - Frozen as law (spec only): carrier sufficiency; explicit walk/trail; zero is false only inside a declared (space, epoch) domain; rendering outside computation; replaceable backends. - Measured: mask-risc's zero fallback plus length-only foreign checks turn not-evaluated into false (ISS-MASK-RISC-ZERO-FALLBACK-IS-NOT-EVALUATED-FALSE). - ScatterOrU32 prohibition not relaxed; the condition for a future relaxation is recorded. CausalEdge64 stays above: a value lane, not a relation. - Next PR: quack observation types + the existing doc-line-partner DuckDB oracle. No code.
