Version: N/A (workflow-only change)

What does this implement/fix?

Auto Assign now assigns new issues and PRs to the user in the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization variable (currently WestwardWinds) instead of a name hard-coded in this repo.

Workflow-only change, no firmware change.

Types of changes

  • Bugfix (fixed change that fixes an issue)
  • New feature (thanks!)
  • Breaking change (repair/feature that breaks existing functionality)
  • Dependency Update - Does not publish
  • Other - Does not publish
  • Website of github readme file update - Does not publish
  • Github workflows - Does not publish

Checklist / Checklijst:

  • The code change has been tested and works locally
  • The code change has not yet been tested

If user-visible functionality or configuration variables are added/modified:

  • Added/updated documentation for the web page

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Automatic pull request assignment now includes pull requests from forks.

Drop the hard-coded assignee and call the shared Workflows autoassign
workflow, which now falls back to the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization
variable. Run on pull_request_target so assignment also works on
fork-submitted PRs; the workflow never checks out PR code.

Walkthrough

The auto-assignment workflow now uses pull_request_target without an activity filter. Its reusable job no longer skips fork pull requests or passes explicit assignee inputs.

The workflow uses pull_request_target without an activity filter. Comments describe fork handling, token access, code execution, and the assignee source. The job removes the fork-skipping condition and explicit assignee inputs; the reusable workflow call remains.

Issues and pull requests will not be auto-assigned until the shared workflow's AUTO_ASSIGNEE fallback reaches main. Merge the prerequisite change first, or keep passing the assignee until it is available.

# The assignee comes from the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization variable.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Merge the reusable-workflow prerequisite before removing assignees.

ApolloAutomation/Workflows/.github/workflows/autoassign.yml@main still declares assignees as required. PR #33 makes it optional and adds the AUTO_ASSIGNEE fallback, but PR #33 remains open. Until that change reaches main, every opened issue or PR invokes the reusable workflow without a required input, so auto-assignment fails. Merge PR #33 first, or keep passing assignees until the fallback is available. (github.com)
