Version: N/A (no firmware change)

What does this implement/fix?

Brings main into beta so it has the Auto Assign change from the default branch: issues and PRs go to the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization variable (currently WestwardWinds) via the shared ApolloAutomation/Workflows workflow, on pull_request_target.

Conflicts resolved:

  • autoassign.yml: takes main's version
  • ci.yml (where it conflicted): main's thin caller of the shared esphome-ci.yml@main, without the label-check job, because this branch already runs Label Check from its own label-check.yml

Also carries main's other non-firmware commits (CI consolidation, dependabot config, datasheets, PR template) that this branch was missing. No ESPHome YAML changes.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Repository automation and issue assignment are now managed through shared workflows, reducing repository-specific configuration.
    • Dependency update checks are scheduled monthly instead of daily.
    • These updates affect maintenance and automated checks only; they do not change product functionality or features available in the app.

chore(ci): bump pozil/auto-assign-issue from 2 to 3 in the github-actions group
🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code)
Replaces inline version-pinned actions with thin callers of
ApolloAutomation/Workflows reusable workflows referenced @main. Leaf
repo now contains zero dependabot-bumpable refs; action version pins
are centralized in the Workflows repo. Dependabot schedule relaxed to
monthly as a safety net.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Consolidate workflows into shared ApolloAutomation/Workflows reusable workflows
Drop the hard-coded assignee and call the shared Workflows autoassign
workflow, which now falls back to the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization
variable. Run on pull_request_target so assignment also works on
fork-submitted PRs; the workflow never checks out PR code.
…iable

Assign issues and PRs via the AUTO_ASSIGNEE org variable

Walkthrough

GitHub Actions workflows now delegate CI and issue assignment to reusable workflows. Dependabot’s GitHub Actions schedule changes to monthly. The root pull request template is removed, while the remaining template change does not alter its comment delimiter.

Changes

GitHub automation and repository defaults

Layer / File(s) Summary
Reusable ESPHome CI workflows
.github/workflows/ci.yml, .github/workflows/weekly.yml
Both workflows call the reusable ESPHome CI workflow and pass 12 YAML configuration paths. They replace local checkout and build steps and the matrix over stable, beta, and dev. The weekly workflow adds read-only contents permission.
Reusable issue assignment
.github/workflows/autoassign.yml
The workflow calls a reusable workflow instead of its local job. Write permissions move to workflow scope, and a comment identifies AUTO_ASSIGNEE as the assignee source.
Dependabot and pull request templates
.github/dependabot.yml, PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md, .github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md
Dependabot’s GitHub Actions schedule changes from daily to monthly. The root pull request template is removed. The remaining template’s HTML comment closing delimiter is unchanged.

Pass the required assignees input.

The referenced reusable workflow declares assignees as required, but this job passes no inputs. The assignment job cannot run as configured. Pass ${{ vars.AUTO_ASSIGNEE }} through with, and confirm that the organization variable is available to this repository. (github.com)
