Hi. I'm trying to create the automation you provided in your tutorial and the very first automation gives me this error?

I'm completely new to HA so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong?

Check your indentation carefully - yaml is very sensitive to correct indentation. If that doesn't help, please put your full automation in a code block:

```yaml
[Paste your automation here]
```

Otherwise, github eats the indentation and makes it impossible to debug.

Thanks for answering. To explain a little better what I did, I copied your automation text, made a new automation in HA and right away clicked "edit in yaml". Then I deleted everything in that yaml to get a blank slate and pasted your automation and changed the node_id to my keypads id. Then when I try to save I get the error?
As I am a complete noob and trying to learn HA (I'm coming from samsung smartthings) I have no idea if it's supposed to be anything else in the yaml which could be the reason for the error?

Got it. So, that note is written from the old-school perspective of configuring everything in Home Assistant from one file. In that paradigm, the automation key contains a list of automation entries. If you're editing from the gui, it expects a single automation entry, so the yaml needs to be adjusted a bit:

If all you're looking to do is control an alarm system, I'd strongly suggest using my blueprint, rather than starting from scratch. It takes care of keeping the keypad in sync with a basic HA-based alarm system.
