[Feature]: Portable Settings / Custom Data Directory #1107

What would you like Filee to do?

Add support for a custom or automatic portable data directory.

Filee should automatically detect or create a Data folder in the same directory as the application executable (Filee.exe) and use it to store all application settings, configurations, preferences, and user data.

Expected directory structure:

FileePortable/
├── Filee.exe
└── Data/
    ├── Settings/
    ├── Config/
    └── ...

The data directory should be relative to the executable's location.

Why / when would you use it?

Currently, Filee Portable still stores its settings and configuration files in the Windows AppData directory (%APPDATA%\Filee).

This makes it difficult to maintain a fully portable setup because settings are not preserved inside the application folder.

I want to move Filee to another drive or computer without losing my settings, preferences, or configurations. Keeping everything inside the application directory would make backups and migration much easier and eliminate dependence on the Windows user profile.

Ideas for how it could work

  • Automatically detect a Data folder beside Filee.exe.
  • If the folder does not exist, create it automatically.
  • Store all application data inside this folder instead of %APPDATA%\Filee.
  • Use relative paths so the application works regardless of its installation location or drive letter.
  • Ideally, support a configurable custom data directory as an additional option.
