Claude Code can now use the server's existing private OpenRouter credential through a versioned
apiKeyHelper, without copying the key into Claude settings or project files. The runbook records the native update path, gateway settings, project instruction entrypoints, and the billing boundary between Claude's model calls andcontext-economy's remote-call cap.Validation:
make verifypassed; the helper test confirms strict private-file loading and rejects an unrelated environment override. On the server, Claude Code 2.1.282 answered through the OpenRouter gateway, read both projects' policies, and invoked a local retrieval case in each project with no remote search calls.
