KvCache::getPagePriorities against the storage’s numLifeCycles(), and throw
std::out_of_range for negative or out-of-range IDs before calling getLifeCycle
or indexing block pages. Preserve the existing beamIndex validation.

applies only when capacity_only is false. Add coverage for a capacity-only
connector with a multi-group layout in the KV connector initialization tests.

…nd Batch Squash of the kvcm2-sparse-attention-api branch, replayed onto main after reverting NVIDIA#19821. That PR is main's own lineage of sparse KV offload; this is ours, and the two cannot both be present. Sparse buffers are declared per buffer, so one layer may hold a sparse buffer beside a dense one and a pool group may mix the two. Their pages are host memory, device-mapped, and read through a per-request GPU cache arena rather than directly, so the device quota does not pay for them. Because a slot spans every pool of its group, a sparse pool's row count follows from the device-backed pools the quota does size -- which left it unbounded. KVCacheManagerConfig::hostSparsePoolQuota bounds it, taken by the allocator as a second budget over a disjoint set of the same pools rather than as a clamp applied afterwards, so a group bound by one budget releases what it does not use of the other. The division itself is driven by all-bytes demand: each group's demand at a spending level is what its share of that level buys of its own all-bytes cost per slot, bisected against both budgets, with a bounded greedy finish spending the integral remainder on whichever group sits lowest in A(pg,n)/r. Feeding the allocator the normalised all-bytes ratio of its own output returns the same slot counts, which is what stops _needAdjustment re-firing on an unchanged profile. Batch holds the per-step page table: members are seated in rows, their page indices written directly into one pinned staging block that publish() uploads once. move() relocates a member between rows without ending membership, so the arena lease and its residency survive, and operator[] reads a row back. The staging rows are read-only from outside, and a debug check at KvCache::updateBasePageIndex -- where every page lock and unlock writes -- catches a mutation racing a publish still reading them. Conflicts with main were resolved keeping both sides' intent: NVIDIA#19727's optional reuse groups and private-slot bookkeeping, NVIDIA#20086's retention binding and AttnLifeCycle's isSparse/reusePolicy, main's tierCommitUnit and max-quota rejection, and its removal of the obsolete warmup paths (NVIDIA#20253). Pool groups are now keyed on reuse policy together with per-pool sparsity. Staging buffers take main's StaticHostMem, which suits an allocate-once buffer better than HostMem's fill worker and per-unit registration. Builds clean and deploys. Validated on an H100: the KVCM2 suite is green (321 tests), the decoder warmup suite is green (110 tests), and the KVCM2/sparse integration suite shows no regression against this host's pre-existing failures. Replaying the branch onto main's refactors needed six repairs that neither the textual merge nor lint could surface: - The MLA generation RoPE path: main extracted _mla_rope_generation_impl and inlined the page-table arguments, which a latent write target has to override. They are parameters again. - Decode-only warmup: main moved model_engine.py's warmup into DecoderWarmup and DecoderCudaGraphs, so the four hooks this branch had there were lost. They are back in the new homes, and the autotuner one now routes through main's own generation_only rather than reintroducing a second flag. - HostSlotPool gained a vmSize and backing options upstream. Sparse pools in a GpuPoolGroup pass them, and that group now waits for the fill at allocation, the way HostPoolGroup does, instead of forcing a synchronous fill. - storageManager.cpp lost a closing brace in the merge, nesting five definitions inside computeSlotCountForLevel. - The NVIDIA#19821 revert took three nanobind bindings with it that belong to NVIDIA#20086 (get_page_priorities, prefetch_reuse) rather than to NVIDIA#19821. Restored. - NVIDIA#20086 also left one assertion against NVIDIA#19821's get_page_storage_snapshot; it now reads page placement through _introspection, which this lineage keeps. Description
KvCacheRetentionConfignow controls native KVCM V2 prompt/decode pages, including reused and shared pages. The last explicit claim sets priority; an unconfigured claim preserves priority and replaces duration. Queue migration preserves accounting, the last reference release starts expiry, and expiry restores priority 35. Prefetch preserves deadlines; late commit/rebase and OPTIONAL-group resume retries preserve newer claims. Failed offload restores page and queue state, and referenced pages remain protected from permanent eviction.Add
KvCacheConfig.cold_tier_offload_min_priorityand deprecatesecondary_offload_min_priority. Legacy input still works with a warning, serializes using the new name, and stays synchronized on assignment; conflicting constructor values fail. Both managers receive the same threshold, including native V1 config callers. A shared C++ constant supplies the default of 30, preserving explicit overrides and signed threshold semantics. The telemetry manifest and reference row use the canonical name. Human telemetry/privacy CODEOWNER approval remains pending.Attention, hybrid/SSM and Helix paths forward retention configuration. Under beam search, full prompt blocks share beam 0 pages, while partial prompt tails and generated blocks have per-beam pages; priority lookup follows that ownership. Native page-priority queries reject negative and out-of-range group IDs. V2 supports DRAM retention through configured cache tiers; unsupported per-request GDS/POSIX file transfers return a request-local error.
Connector priority filtering reads native page priorities. V2 connectors with complete grouped APIs can initialize and process multi-group requests without explicit retention. Only requests combining multiple layer groups, an explicit retention config, and a KV-transferring connector are rejected during admission. Capacity-only connectors are exempt from that request restriction and still receive layout registration. Existing grouped capability checks remain. The priority metadata schema is unchanged; no Dynamo change is required. Single-group retention and native retention without a connector remain supported.
Test Coverage
Latest connector fix, executed through
tekit-runon shared B200umbriel-b200-034, using the container runtime interpreter/usr/bin/python3:The model cases cover request-local rejection followed by successful ordinary generation on the same executor, capacity-only multi-group generation with retention, V1/V2 priority/default behavior, and a real connector saving/loading grouped KV bytes across separate LLM instances. The V1 VSWA rejection control is retained. Multi-group xfails are removed; existing A10 coverage is restored, and the new request/capacity cases are selected on A10 and B200. Concrete scheduler capability tests are explicitly selected in the CPU list. No waiver changed. Gemma and GPT-OSS variants were not rerun in this follow-up.
Earlier validation at
2c99ff1065passed both runtime-only and production-importTestRetentionruns (28 cases each), the non-debug group-boundary case, and 24 adjacent Python cases with 2 subtests. The rebase preserved the already-built C++ tree. Prior feature validation also covered native cold-page/offload/rollback and V1 eviction-policy controls, beam retention, OPTIONAL/hybrid/Helix, config forwarding, and model cancellation. The present fix changes no C++ implementation.Independent runtime and coverage reviews plus a fresh skeptical pass reviewed this connector fix. A separate actual Claude CLI pass used verified
claude-opus-5-5/firstParty; no blocking regression remains. These are static reviews, separate from runtime testing and required human approval. Current-head pre-merge CI is not claimed as passed.Evidence:
