…serving Context server on one GPU, generation server on another, KV moved by the NIXL Python transceiver, both workers forced to the target with TRTLLM_MODELING_V2=require. The target is unchanged: each side only ever sees one of the two batch shapes the aggregated case alternates between. Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <20514172+WeiHaocheng@users.noreply.github.com>

…aultTransferPlanner PeerRegistrar keeps peer bookkeeping (rank infos, extractors, aux layouts, aux ownership) and gates registration on the planner: same planner_id on both sides, then the planner's own compatibility check. Pool matching, mapper construction, topology overlap, send ownership, ordinal pairing, the fan-in uniformity gate and recurrent-state payload sizing move to DefaultTransferPlanner behind the TransferPlanner protocol. … no longer knows cache kinds The receiver asks the planner which peer ranks to request from, whether those writers are uniform enough for a fan-in bounce split, how many extra bytes ride along, and whether a newly met context peer is compatible. The attention/Mamba policies, CacheKind and MapperKind are gone from the transfer module; a test greps for them. Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <20514172+WeiHaocheng@users.noreply.github.com>
TransferWorker builds the planner through a factory and stamps planner_id and planner_blob on the rank's RankInfo; DecoderModelForCausalLM provides the default factory, and a modeling_v2 target overrides it in its own directory. Plumbed from the executor through create_kv_cache_transceiver and KvCacheTransceiverV2. Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <20514172+WeiHaocheng@users.noreply.github.com>
…r-vetting error, cache targets A decorator left on _fanin_bounce_safe would have made it a bound method under a profiler and failed every transfer; check_peer now converts any ValueError raised while vetting a peer into PeerIncompatibleError so the receiver fails only that peer and caches the verdict; targets() is cached per peer DP group because the sender asks on every request. …ransfer Under attention-DP dep4 every context rank has one generation twin and MLA keeps a block's latent K in one contiguous slot, so the target's planner is ordinal pairing plus slot arithmetic, merging consecutive blocks into one fragment. It accepts only the dep4-to-dep4 pair. A CPU parity test proves the plan covers exactly the bytes the default planner would move. …over, not per target A planner owns a compatibility set of (context target, generation target) pairs; a target is one member. The target used to name its planner by overriding build_transfer_planner, which capped each planner at one target. Now the planner declares COVERS, modeling_v2/transfers resolves the planner from the target id, AutoModelForCausalLM installs the factory on the instance, and describe() publishes the target id so the peer's planner can refuse uncovered pairs. The DeepSeek dep4 planner moves out of the target directory as DeepseekMlaLatentTransferPlanner; the target's modeling.py carries no transfer code. plan() took the fields of the sender's Chunk and the receiver's RecvReqInfo as separate positional arguments, so any per-request fact added to either type later would not reach a planner, and the drop would be silent. plan() now takes (self_ri, peer_ri, chunk, req_info, prompt_len) and receiver_payload_bytes() takes (self_ri, peer_ri, req_info). RecvReqInfo moves from native/transfer.py to base/backend.py beside Chunk: it is the receiver's wire message, the protocol type the planner contract names. The sender's KVSendTask is deliberately not passed; it carries transfer progress, counters and timers a planner must not touch. DefaultTransferPlanner and DeepseekMlaLatentTransferPlanner read the same values from the two objects; plans are unchanged. Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <20514172+WeiHaocheng@users.noreply.github.com>
…e and topology, not by modeling_v2 target A planner's compatibility matrix named deployments by modeling_v2 target id, and the binding looked only at modeling_v2 classes. A context worker running the built-in DeepseekV3ForCausalLM therefore got the default planner while a generation worker on the modeling_v2 dep4 target got DeepseekMlaLatentTransferPlanner, and the framework's planner_id check refused the pair at registration. The bytes were compatible all along: the MLA latent KV layout is the cache manager's, not the implementation's. Deployment (architecture plus tp/pp/cp/moe_ep/moe_tp/attention_dp) is now the identity. It is read off the ModelConfig for every model AutoModelForCausalLM builds, so a built-in model and a modeling_v2 target on the same topology bind to the same planner and publish the same description, and either may feed the other. COVERS pairs, describe() and the pair lookup use Deployment; the planner package moves from modeling_v2/transfers to disaggregation/planners since it was never a modeling_v2 property; target_id_of goes away with its last caller. A consequence worth naming: a pure built-in DeepseekV3 dep4 disaggregated deployment now also runs on DeepseekMlaLatentTransferPlanner instead of the default planner. Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <20514172+WeiHaocheng@users.noreply.github.com>
… supports_deployment Replace the Deployment dataclass and the COVERS pair matrix with one class method per planner, supports_deployment(architecture, mapping) -> bool. The planner package asks every planner and binds the one that says yes. The matrix encoded the full topology (tp, moe_ep, moe_tp) into an identity that nothing consumed: plan() reads geometry from the page table and RankInfo already carries the peer's parallel sizes. It also made coverage an enumeration, so dep4 -> dep8 needed a new entry although the MLA latent KV is not sharded and the plan is the same for any width. The predicate states the real condition: a DeepSeek-V3 architecture under attention-DP with pp = cp = 1. The peer no longer re-validates the deployment in check_peer. The framework only connects ranks with the same planner_id, and the only way to get this planner_id is to have passed supports_deployment at bind time, so the peer has already been judged by the same function. describe() falls back to the base class's empty blob; check_peer keeps the latent geometry comparison (pool shape, layer count, tokens_per_block, slot bytes), which is what decides whether the bytes line up. Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <fredw@nvidia.com> Signed-off-by: Fred Wei <20514172+WeiHaocheng@users.noreply.github.com>
…_TRANSFER_PLANNER The planner is now chosen by the user, not by the framework. Setting TRTLLM_KV_TRANSFER_PLANNER to a planner_id binds that planner to the model; unset, every model keeps the default plan. PLANNERS becomes the map from planner_id to class, and the auto-selection step (planner_for, the "two planners support one deployment" error) goes away with it. supports_deployment is now a check rather than a selection criterion: a named planner that does not support the architecture and topology the model is built for fails binding with the reason, as does an unknown name. Both sides of a disaggregated pair set the same name; the framework already refuses to connect ranks whose planner_id differs. The named planner is bound even when the Python transceiver is not used.
bind_transfer_planner runs for every model that AutoModelForCausalLM.from_config builds. The documentation states that the variable requires transceiver_runtime: PYTHON. Suppose a deployment sets TRTLLM_KV_TRANSFER_PLANNER and also uses the C++ runtime. create_kv_cache_transceiver then never reads the hook, and the deployment silently runs the C++ transfer path. In that case the user gets no error, and the planner check gives no protection. Log a warning in that case, or raise an error. One place to do this is create_kv_cache_transceiver: when the environment variable is set and the runtime is not PYTHON, emit the warning or error.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
This test does not enable the planner that its docstring describes.
The docstring states that both workers run the target's TransferPlanner. The test sets extra_env={MODELING_V2_VALIDATE_ENV: "1"} only. Without TRTLLM_KV_TRANSFER_PLANNER=trtllm.deepseek_mla_latent, bind_transfer_planner returns None and both workers use DefaultTransferPlanner. The test can therefore pass while the DeepSeek planner is broken. Add the variable to extra_env. If possible, also assert that the worker log contains the planner line, for example through assert_worker_log_contains="planner_id='trtllm.deepseek_mla_latent'".
The tests guideline also requires a decision about CI listing. Confirm whether this test belongs in a multi-GPU list such as l0_dgx_b200.yml or l0_gb300_multi_gpus.yml. The test is not listed now.

Update `test_gsm8k_disagg` to set `TRTLLM_KV_TRANSFER_PLANNER` to
`trtllm.deepseek_mla_latent` in `extra_env`, ensuring both workers use the
planner described by the test. If supported by the launch helper, assert the
worker log contains the planner ID; also determine whether this test should be
added to an applicable multi-GPU CI list.

Remove the word "statics" so the codespell pre-commit hook passes. The Release Checks pre-commit job fails because codespell reports "“statics” should be “statistics”" at two lines. Both lines need rewording.

Replace “statics” with “helpers” in the test docstring so it reads “check the

…row pairer The planner's plan(self_ri, peer_ri, chunk, req_info, prompt_len) mixed two kinds of knowledge: what one rank's cache holds for a request (its page table and slot tables), and how this rank's layout pairs with a peer's. Split them so each half can later move to the layer that owns it. CacheDescriber.rows(page_table, slot_table_per_layer_group, excluded_views) is single-sided: one LayerGroupRows per pool view, carrying block ordinals, slot addresses, the row size and the ordinal span. DefaultCacheDescriber is slot arithmetic off the page table. Its describer_id travels on RankInfo and is compared at registration and at the receiver gate like planner_id. TransferPlanner.pair(self_ri, peer_ri, self_rows, peer_rows, *, token_range, prompt_len, dst_start_token) is two-sided: pool matching, ownership, ordinal intersection and the mappers over the rows it is given. It no longer reads slot tables or addresses memory, and no longer keeps a peer extractor. plan_transfer() composes the two for one piece; the sender calls only that. _pair_ordinals becomes _pair_rows over row ordinals, with the helix stride and the span check inside. STATE rows are the request's one slot; _state_region expands it to per-layer pointers for the mamba mappers. The DeepSeek MLA latent planner pairs the default describer's rows and merges rows that are consecutive in memory on both sides. Just for curiosity. Is it on purpose to put the superpowers plans in the PR?

"CacheDescriber" can be implemented into model specific kvcache manager such as M3KVCacheManager? |
Description
Motivation. Disaggregated serving plans every KV transfer through one shared module:
PeerRegistrarmatches pools, re-shards heads and walks recurrent state for whichever cache layout it finds, and it does this for every model. When a new model's cache layout is not covered, the only way to support it is to change that shared module, and every such change has to be reviewed and validated against all the models already going through it, because a mistake there breaks transfers for models the change was never about. That review and validation burden slows down bringing up new models. What this PR does.
1. The existing plan becomes the
DefaultTransferPlanner. EverythingPeerRegistrar,SenderandReceiverused to decide about a transfer is gathered into one class,native/default_planner.py: peer compatibility (attention geometry, Mamba/KDA layout, layer-count tolerance, thebounded_replay_on_generationcheck), pool matching, head re-sharding, the helix CP projection, recurrent-state slots, the bounce reservation size, and theexcluded_pool_viewsskip. Its behaviour is unchanged; it is the plan every model runs by default.PeerRegistrarkeeps peer bookkeeping only, andtransfer.pyno longer knows cache kinds or layouts.2. The two model-owned interfaces (
base/planner.py). What a model contributes splits in two, each behind its own interface, so that each half can later move to the layer that owns it: the single-sided half to the KV cache manager's export side (the lender of the shared KV cache plan), the two-sided half to the native transfer backend.CacheDescriberlooks at one side only.rows(page_table, slot_table_per_layer_group, excluded_views) -> list[LayerGroupRows]turns a request's positional slot tables into the rows this rank holds, one entry per pool view of each layer group: block ordinals, the slot address of every row, the row size, and the ordinal span the request covers. It knows the model's cache layout and nothing about the peer.DefaultCacheDescriber(native/default_describer.py) is one row per held slot atbase_address + slot * slot_stride_bytes; there is no selection hook for it yet because no model needs one.TransferPlannerlooks at both sides. One instance per rank, shared bySenderandReceiver, built once perTransferWorkerthrough a factory. The framework drives it at five points:planner_id: a string both sides must agree on. It travels onRankInfo, and the framework compares it before anything else, so two sides running different planners refuse each other before any registration.describer_idtravels and is compared the same way.describe() -> bytes: an opaque self-description carried inRankInfo.planner_blob; only the same planner class on the other side decodes it.check_peer(self_ri, peer_ri): vet a peer once at registration; raisePeerIncompatibleErrorwith a field-level reason. The framework fails only that peer's requests and caches the verdict.targets(self_ri, peer_ri, peer_dp_rank) -> PeerTargets: which peer ranks this rank exchanges with for one peer DP group, and whether the writer count is uniform.pair(self_ri, peer_ri, self_rows, peer_rows, *, token_range, prompt_len, dst_start_token) -> TransferPlan: sender side, the bytes this rank writes for one piece, as pairwise(src_ptrs, dst_ptrs, sizes)device addresses, computed from the rows each side described. The planner never addresses memory itself and never reads a slot table.receiver_payload_bytes(self_ri, peer_ri, req_info): receiver side, bytes beyond the paged blocks that ride the same write, used to size the bounce reservation.forget_peer(peer_ri): drop per-peer caches on unregister.plan_transfer(describer, planner, ...)composes the two for one piece: describe this side from the sender'sChunk, describe the receiver from its wire message (RecvReqInfo) against its published page table, thenpair. The sender calls only that. The planner is chosen in
AutoModelForCausalLM.from_config, where the model's architecture andMappingare known and before the transceiver asks for the factory, so neither the model code nor the disaggregation code names the other.DecoderModelForCausalLM.build_transfer_plannerreturns the default planner; a named planner replaces that hook on the instance.3. The first specific planner:
trtllm.deepseek_mla_latent(planners/deepseek_mla_latent.py). ForDeepseekV3ForCausalLMunder attention DP withpp = cp = 1, any DP width. MLA keeps a block's latent KV in one contiguous slot and the latent is not sharded across ranks, so there is no pool matching and no head re-sharding to do:check_peercompares the single latent pool's geometry (layer count, tokens per block, slot bytes),targetsis the matching DP rank, andpairis ordinal pairing over the default describer's rows, merging rows that are consecutive in memory on both sides into one fragment. The whole planner is about 150 lines and touches nothing shared. A CPU parity test proves it moves exactly the bytes the default planner would. Because it is keyed on architecture and topology rather than on a model class, a context server running the built-inDeepseekV3ForCausalLMcan feed a generation server running themodeling_v2DeepSeek target, and a dep4 context server can feed a dep8 generation server (only dep4 to dep4 was run end to end).4. Usage. Set

Unset, every model keeps the default plan and nothing changes. Adding a planner means adding one class underplanners/and one entry inPLANNERS. The hook is read by the Python transceiver only (transceiver_runtime: PYTHON); with the C++ runtime the variable is documented as unsupported and is currently ignored rather than rejected.docs/source/features/disagg-serving.mddocuments the variable; design notes are underdocs/superpowers/specs/2026-10-10-disagg-transfer-planner-design.md.Test Coverage
