The tiled QKV path is opt-in through TRTLLM_ENABLE_QKV_ROPE_TILING=1; the setting is read at import time. The kernel selects eight-token tiles only for eligible SM107 devices and shapes. Other calls use the stock path. Tiled reductions and compiler contraction can change Q/K rounding across dispatch boundaries.
get_sm_version now accepts a device argument. Callers that omit it retain device-0 behavior.
Review finding counts and test execution results are unavailable.
QA Engineer Review
The modified unit test covers reference matching, tiled-versus-stock output, CUDA graph replay, eager and Inductor compilation, dispatch exclusions, tensor-parallel head counts, and batch boundaries. No reference to this test file was found in the integration CI or manual-QA lists. Coverage verdict: sufficient.
Per-File QA Perspective
tensorrt_llm/_torch/attention/kernels/fused_qk_norm_rope_gate.py: Verify import-time opt-in, SM107 and shape eligibility, stock fallback, partial-tile handling, and Q/K rounding at dispatch boundaries.
tensorrt_llm/_utils.py: Verify get_sm_version for CUDA devices, integer device IDs, None, and systems without CUDA.
tests/unittest/_torch/attention/kernels/test_fused_qk_norm_rope_gate.py: Tests output matching, compilation, CUDA graph replay, and dispatch conditions. No matching integration CI or manual-QA list entry was found.
Description
Why?
One CTA per token and head adds overhead to large Qwen attention batches. Token tiling reduces this overhead while retaining the fused normalization, rotary embedding, and gate extraction.
What?
Add an eight-token path behind TRTLLM_ENABLE_QKV_ROPE_TILING=1. Limit selection to validated SM107 shapes and 256 - 16,384 tokens. Keep stock execution for other calls, including B200.
Test Coverage
B200: 1.82× / 1.88× faster direct kernel at those token counts. Production dispatch remains scalar.
Validation: 158 tests passed per GPU. Scalar fallback matches baseline across 192 benchmark cases.
Rollout: default off; enable with TRTLLM_ENABLE_QKV_ROPE_TILING=1 before import on eligible SM107 workloads.
Q/K rounding can change generated tokens across dispatch boundaries.

Walkthrough
The fused QKV preprocessing kernel now supports one-token and eight-token tiles. Tiled dispatch depends on an environment flag, device capability, token count, dimensions, and total Q/K/V token-head rows. get_sm_version accepts an optional CUDA device. Tests cover dispatch, output behavior, compilation, and CUDA graph replay.

Summary
Device capability and tiling configuration tensorrt_llm/_utils.py, tensorrt_llm/_torch/attention/kernels/fused_qk_norm_rope_gate.py
get_sm_version accepts an optional device and caches results by argument. The kernel reads the tiling flag and defines the minimum row threshold.
Tiled kernel and launch selection tensorrt_llm/_torch/attention/kernels/fused_qk_norm_rope_gate.py
The kernel processes masked token tiles and retains Q/K RMSNorm and RoPE, gate extraction, and packed V copying. Dispatch selects eight-token or one-token tiles and sets the warp count and launch grid. The wrapper documentation describes dispatch conditions and possible Q/K rounding differences.
Dispatch and output validation tests/unittest/_torch/attention/kernels/test_fused_qk_norm_rope_gate.py
Tests compare stock and tiled outputs and check dispatch conditions, production launches, compilation backends, token boundaries, and CUDA graph replay.
The opt-in tiled QKV preprocessing path is off by default and limited to validated SM107 shapes. The remaining gap is test coverage: nothing asserts that 16384 tokens still selects the tiled path. This is safe to merge, with a small follow-up to add that assertion.

The description covers the Why and What, the Test Coverage section lists benchmark speedups, validation counts, rollout guidance, and a rounding caveat, and the checklist is marked. It does not fully follow the template: the Description section header is used, but the Test Coverage section lacks named test files, and the template's note about title format is not addressed. The content is mostly complete, so the check passes.

Add a positive case at the inclusive 16384-token bound.
_use_tiled_qkv_rope accepts 256 <= qkv.shape[0] <= 16384. No test asserts that 16384 tokens select the tiled path. The positive cases in test_qkv_rope_tiling_accepts_tp_head_counts stop at 1024 tokens. The 16384-token input in test_qkv_rope_tiling_batch_boundaries compares outputs with tolerance and does not check which path ran. If <= 16384 changes to < 16384, these tests can still pass.
Add a positive case at 16384 tokens. With 8 query heads and 1 KV head, the head-row count exceeds the 3072 threshold at that token count.
