Follow up on #20893 by adopting the per-family native library conventions from #20896 for Kimi K3 modeling v2. Based on main at b72f1c1.
Build K3-only CUDA kernels and Torch bindings into libth_modeling_v2_kimi_k3_vl.so, with shared ARCHS 100f code and declarations for both TP16 targets. Remove K3 linkage from the stock libraries and its discovery exception.
Use the family C++ namespace and mv2_kimi_k3_vl Torch namespace. Load through the standard target/family loader and register family fakes on load. Missing builds retain the standard NoTarget behavior.
Remove the stock fake-registration import and K3 exceptions in native boundary checks and CBTS. Add a family-path GPU smoke/fake test, collected by the existing B300 modeling_v2 directory entry; update existing native-op callers/tests.
The stock attention-residual kernels and operators remain in place because built-in Kimi Linear also uses them. Kernel algorithms and the built-in model behavior are unchanged.
Validation
Local x86 source build and editable install: 28 native-loader/claims/rank-agreement/packaging/CBTS/drift tests passed, including installed-library loading.
ARM source-built development wheel on four GB200s: 232 tests passed, no skips, including all five native schemas, RMSNorm numerics/graphs, K3 host checks, and MNNVL/sandwich collectives. The pinned-main component baseline passed its corresponding 229 tests before the additional regression tests.
Missing-native-library check: 21 host tests passed, two target modules skipped with NoTarget as intended. Qwen3-0.6B source-install inference smoke passed.
A 16-rank GB200 MNNVL communication preflight passed. Corrected-head K3 TP16 / MoE TP4×EP4 diagnostic generated 32 tokens and exited cleanly, with actual FUSED attention-residual logs and K3 decode kernels enabled.
TP16 comparison completed: median 6.559350 ms/token for pinned main + the identical loader fix, versus 6.563984 ms/token for the PR (+0.071%). Generated token IDs matched across all timed requests. Same 16 GB200s, batch 1, ISL/OSL 128/128, five warmups + twenty timed requests, graphs on, reuse off, normal logging. Both launchers exited 0. This covers one case, not a full accuracy or all-shape performance gate.
Pre-commit and DCO checks passed. CI #66966 passed both builds but failed B300 collection on two pre-existing duplicate Qwen test module names. Commit e8beecbb93 fixes those with 100% filename-only renames; all 206 modeling_v2 test import names are now unique. Full CI rerun is required.
Loader compatibility prerequisite
The TP16 diagnostic failed on both this PR and pinned main b72f1c1e6f because the copied K3 expert adapters lagged the shared loader contract: missing optional_suffixes and an obsolete five-argument callback. Commit c029345e89 adds the empty optional-suffix default and accepts/ignores the optional getter for MXFP4 in both targets, with a stock-contract regression. Kernel algorithms, weight formats, and quantization math are unchanged.
The performance reference is explicitly pinned main + the identical loader compatibility fix; unmodified main cannot reach generation. Runtime validation uses the source-built native binaries and read-only overlays of the corresponding corrected Python modules.

Dev Engineer Review
Kimi K3 VL native operators now use Modeling V2 family and target libraries instead of stock-library linkage and the trtllm namespace. CMake discovers the K3 family and builds its shared and target sources. Shared attention-residual sources remain linked for other consumers.
Python callers load family or target operators through the standard helpers. Fake registrations use the family namespace, and importing the ops package no longer imports _native. Required attention-residual operators no longer fall back to an unfused path when registrations are missing.
CBTS now claims K3 family paths and selects configured K3 tests. The native-claims checks no longer allow K3 stock-library exceptions. No kernel algorithm changes are reported. Review finding severity counts are unavailable.
The author reports 25 source-bound checks passed and 1 skipped, plus successful pre-commit and DCO checks. The author also reports that K3 C++ and CUDA translation units compiled through the SM100 family targets. Installed-family loading, GPU smoke and numerical validation, collective tests, and the requested TP16 end-to-end comparison remain unverified. Reported build success and infrastructure-related test failures do not establish full runtime validation.
QA Engineer Review
Test changes and coverage
The changes add an SM100-gated native smoke test. It imports both target modules, checks five operator schemas, tests an RMSNorm result, and verifies fake-tensor output shape and dtype.
The changes update the all-gather split matrix, attention-residual RMSNorm test, K3 MPI communication and sandwich tests, native-claims test, CBTS rule test, and K3 construction and decode-step tests. The K3 test callers use family registrations where applicable. Construction and decode-step tests skip only when target imports raise NoTarget.
No test-list files changed. CI list entries exist for the K3 communication and sandwich tests, all-gather split matrix, RMSNorm test, native-claims test, construction test, and decode-step test. No CI or manual-QA entry was found for the new native smoke test or CBTS rule test.
Coverage verdict: needs follow-up. The native smoke test requires an SM100 GPU, and installed-family loading and GPU numerical validation remain pending.

Walkthrough
Kimi K3 VL native sources now build as a ModelingV2 family. C++ namespaces, operator registration, and Python loading use ModelingV2 interfaces. Tests and claim checks now include Kimi K3 VL paths and native operations.
CMake discovers and configures the Kimi K3 VL family through ModelingV2. The prior stock-library and thop source wiring is removed.
Native namespace and operator registration tensorrt_llm/_torch/_experimental/modeling_v2/models/kimi_k3_vl/csrc/*
Native declarations, implementations, and Torch operator registrations use ModelingV2 namespaces and registration macros.
Native operator loading and dispatch tensorrt_llm/_torch/_experimental/modeling_v2/models/kimi_k3_vl/{fake_ops.py,ops/*,kimi_k3_mxfp4__*/...}, tensorrt_llm/_torch/custom_ops/cpp_custom_ops.py
Family and target modules load native operators through ModelingV2 loaders. Python operator calls and fake-op registrations use the ModelingV2 namespace.
Native tests and ModelingV2 claims tests/unittest/_torch/modeling_v2/*, tests/unittest/_torch/kernels/kimi_k3/*, tests/unittest/scripts/cbts/test_modeling_v2_rule.py, jenkins/scripts/cbts/cbts/rules/modeling_v2.py
Tests use the native operator loader and cover native and fake execution. Claim checks include Kimi K3 VL paths in ModelingV2 discovery and scope rules.
Missing native libraries no longer break test collection, but they still prevent host-side decode-step tests from running. The remaining coverage gap warrants owner awareness; the verified registration and CBTS concerns do not block merge.

Exercise the ModelingV2 operators named by this test.
The test imports the family communication module, so the family library is loaded. However, every executable fused call still uses torch.ops.trtllm.mnnvl_allreduce_attn_res or torch.ops.trtllm.mnnvl_allgather_split. The test does not call the mv2_kimi_k3_vl implementations. A family implementation or dispatch defect can therefore pass these assertions, although a loader failure may fail during setup.
If this test is intended to cover the family operators, call their wrappers through the family loader and workspace contract. Otherwise, restore the docstring’s trtllm:: names.

Thanks for the cleanup. The direction matches #20896, and the kernel code is unchanged. I am requesting changes because the moved ops sit on the K3 decode hot path, and a missing or broken registration falls back silently instead of failing.
1. (High) Show build and GPU validation before merge; a broken op degrades silently.
Both target modeling.py files resolve native_ops.k3_attn_res_rmsnorm_fwd / k3_attn_res_add_rmsnorm_fwd inside except (AttributeError, RuntimeError): return None, so if an op is not registered in libth_modeling_v2_kimi_k3_vl.so, K3 quietly takes the unfused path: tests stay green and decode gets slower. Please attach:
the source-build result (the family library now links with -Wl,--no-undefined and without the old CUDA_RESOLVE_DEVICE_SYMBOLS ON; the new using namespace ::tensorrt_llm::kernels; inside the MV2 namespace in k3MnnvlAllreduce.cu / mnnvlAllreduceAttnRes.cu also needs a real compile);
tests/unittest/_torch/kernels/kimi_k3/test_k3_mnnvl_comm.py and test_k3_sandwich.py on a 4-GPU GB200 tray;
one K3 TP16 end-to-end decode run (either target) whose startup log still reports the fused attn-res path and the K3 sandwich / MNNVL kernels enabled, plus an unchanged decode TPOT against main.
2. (Medium) kimi_k3_vl/ops/__init__.py loads the native library at package import. native_ops = load_family_ops(__name__) in the package __init__ makes every kimi_k3_vl.ops.* import depend on the .so, including pure-Python/CuTe DSL ops that never call it (activation.situ_and_mul, attention.k3_drafter_attn*, attention.k3_mla_qkv, moe.*). On a build without 100f this raises NoTarget at import, so those tests error during collection instead of skipping; and a NativeLoadError breaks unrelated ops. The loader docstring says to call load_family_ops(__name__) "where the op is used". Please move it into the five consumers (ops/comm/mnnvl_allgather_split.py, mnnvl_allreduce.py, mnnvl_allreduce_attn_res.py, mnnvl_fusion_allreduce.py, ops/norm/attn_res_rmsnorm_fwd.py) and keep ops/__init__.py side-effect free. The same applies to the module-level native_ops imports added in tests/unittest/_torch/modeling_v2/comm/_mnnvl_allgather_split_op_matrix.py and tests/unittest/_torch/modeling_v2/norm/test_modeling_v2_attn_res_rmsnorm_fwd.py.
3. (Medium) The new smoke test covers only one of the five moved ops. test_modeling_v2_k3_native.py exercises k3_attn_res_rmsnorm_fwd only. Please also assert that every op fake_ops.py registers (k3_mnnvl_fusion_allreduce, k3_attn_res_rmsnorm_fwd, k3_attn_res_add_rmsnorm_fwd, mnnvl_allgather_split, mnnvl_allreduce_attn_res) resolves on the family native_ops, so a missing symbol fails CI instead of silently disabling the fusion in item 1.
What already looks right: the stock Kimi Linear attn-res kernels stay in stock; no torch.ops.trtllm.<moved op> callers remain; the fake registrations move cleanly to the family namespace; and the CBTS and native-claims exceptions are removed consistently.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Removing the K3 carve-outs follows the gpt_oss pattern, and the C++ side is mechanical. Two wiring changes can silently reduce coverage or break collection. They're worth settling before merge, alongside the pending build/link/GPU validation the description already calls out.
CBTS coverage for K3 changes shrinks. Without the exception, a K3-only change gets scope="modelingv2only" and keeps only entries under unittest/_torch/modeling_v2/models/kimi_k3_vl plus the K3 accuracy gate. The ~32 unittest/_torch/kernels/kimi_k3/test_k3_* entries don't match _MV2_ENTRY_PATTERNS, so they drop out. The gb200 modeling_v2/comm/* op-matrix tests drop out too, because they sit outside the node prefix and that block has no covering directory entry. Both groups exercise the kernels this PR moves (test_k3_mnnvl_comm.py, test_k3_sandwich.py, test_modeling_v2_mnnvl_*_op_matrix.py). Either move or rename those tests under the family's test tree, or teach the rule that the K3 family also selects them. Add a CBTS test asserting that a kimi_k3_vl/csrc/*.cu change keeps them.
CPU-only collection now goes through the native loader.test_modeling_v2_kimi_k3_decode_step.py is cpu_only and listed in l0_cpu.yml. It imports both target packages at module scope, and those now call load_target_ops at import. K3 appears to be the first family whose target packages a CPU-stage test imports. Please confirm l0_cpu passes. If the family .so is absent or fails to dlopen there, collection fails with NoTarget/NativeLoadError.
Also: a refactor this size that changes library linkage and CI selection should cite a JIRA ticket rather than [None].

Native wrappers load at invocation time; the ops package has no loading side effect.
Removed the AttributeError/RuntimeError fallback around the two required K3 attention-residual op lookups in both targets. Missing registrations now fail rather than silently choosing the unfused path.
The family smoke test resolves all five moved schemas. The existing MPI reference tests now call the family registrations too.
K3 CBTS selection retains the existing kernel and communication-matrix tests, with a regression test. CPU-only target tests skip only NoTarget, following the GPT-OSS convention.
Source-bound native claims/loader/packaging/CBTS/drift checks: 25 passed, 1 skipped; pre-commit and DCO passed. The prior CI failure analysis reports successful x86 and SBSA builds and attributes the test-job failure to Slurm/SSH connectivity/maintenance. The local full build is progressing after hydrating missing stock FMHA archives.
The requested 4-GB200 collective tests and TP16 end-to-end/TPOT comparison remain outstanding; I am not treating this as merge-ready without that evidence. GPU requests are queued.
For the tracking-ticket request: this follows #20893, which used [None]; I do not have an existing Jira key to cite. Please point me at the intended ticket and I will link it rather than inventing a reference.

Built and packaged the checkout on ARM/GB200 using CUDA 13.4 (build_wheel.py --cuda_architectures 100-real --out-of-tree --fast_build), including libth_modeling_v2_kimi_k3_vl.so with its normal no-undefined link. Installed the resulting 1.4.0rc3 wheel into the build venv; tests verified that package path, four visible GPUs, and SM100 capability.
230 passed, zero skipped, clean wrapper exit 0, 39.11 s. Included:
test_modeling_v2_k3_native.py (both targets, all five schemas, GPU op, fake)
Hardware: dlcluster job 2897925, gb-nvl-081-compute03, four GB200s. The fresh runtime container explicitly exposes the GPU devices and the job's IMEX channel. An earlier container lost NVML access and skipped the smoke test; that attempt is not counted as a pass.
Runtime source in the tested wheel matches the latest head; the subsequent bdf5345707 change only tightens the CBTS regression assertion (seven CBTS tests passed, hooks/DCO passed).
The separate 16-GB200 request is still queued. TP16 end-to-end decode and the against-main TPOT comparison remain outstanding; no claim of full-model numerical/performance parity yet.
x86 checkout source build + editable installation completed. Running the native loader, native claims, rank-agreement, packaging, CBTS, and K3 drift tests with the normal repository pytest setup: 28 passed, no skips. This includes the installed-family-library load test that was previously skipped in the isolated bootstrap run.
On the ARM source-built package, explicitly pointed the native loader at an empty directory: 21 workspace/host tests passed; the two target-import modules skipped with NoTarget as intended. The harness also asserted that the K3 family had not been loaded. Broken installed libraries are still not suppressed.
Qwen3-0.6B inference smoke passed using the source-built package, producing 32 tokens beginning with “Paris.” This is a general source-install smoke test, not the outstanding K3 TP16 gate.
Preparing the pinned-main (b72f1c1e6f) baseline build for the TPOT comparison. The 16-GPU allocation remains pending.
@vsabavat TP16 validation exposed a pre-existing loader-contract bug on both this PR and pinned main b72f1c1e6f: _K3ExpertCkptSpec lacks optional_suffixes, which the stock KimiLinearForCausalLM._load_expert_slices reads. The target's MXFP4 adapter also still accepted five arguments while the stock loader now passes the optional-tensor getter as a sixth argument. Both diagnostic runs failed before generation with the same AttributeError.
Fixed in the separate compatibility commit c029345e89: both K3 target specs expose an empty optional-suffix tuple, and their MXFP4 adapters accept/ignore the optional getter, matching the stock MXFP4 contract. No weight format, quantization math, or CUDA kernel changed. A regression invokes both target adapters with the stock six-argument contract and checks the exact forwarded tensor mapping; construction + target-drift tests: 15 passed. Hooks/DCO passed.
The corrected TP16 diagnostic is running. To isolate native-library migration in the eventual TPOT comparison, the reference is explicitly pinned main + the identical loader compatibility fix, not unmodified main (which cannot reach generation). The source-built native binaries are unchanged; the two corrected Python modules are mounted read-only from the corresponding source snapshots.
@vsabavat Corrected-head TP16 diagnostic now passes on 16 GB200s (TP16 / MoE TP4×EP4, modeling_v2=require): 32 tokens generated and clean launcher exit 0. Debug logs explicitly show Kimi K3 attn-res fusion [attn_res+norm]: FUSED (M=1, H=7168, N=2) on all ranks. The diagnostic timing is not being used as a performance measurement.
The four-GPU suite was rerun with the corrected Python adapters: 232 passed, no skips, clean exit 0. The 16-rank MNNVL communication preflight also passed before model loading.
Normal-logging TPOT runs are now sequenced as pinned main + identical loader fix, then the PR, using the same 16 GPUs, ISL 128 / OSL 128, five warmups and twenty timed requests. I will post the raw-summary comparison after both finish.
@vsabavat TP16 comparison completed successfully on the same 16 node-exclusive GB200 GPUs (shared NVLink domain), using the TP16 / MoE TP4×EP4 target with modeling_v2=require.
Median delta: +0.071%. Generated token IDs matched exactly across all timed requests in both runs. Both launchers exited 0.
Protocol: batch 1, ISL 128 / OSL 128, five warmups followed by twenty timed requests, CUDA graph batch size [1], KV reuse off, normal logging. TPOT is (last_token_time - first_token_time) / (output_tokens - 1) from request performance metrics; loading and warmup are excluded.
The separate diagnostic run confirmed actual FUSED attn-res execution and startup reported KDA kernels on 69/69 layers, MLA on 24 layers, sandwich o_proj on 93/93 layers (otherwise MNNVL attn-res), and K3 MoE kernels on 92 layers.
Scope: one case, not a full accuracy gate or all-shape performance claim. The reference is explicitly b72f1c1e6f plus the same loader compatibility fix; unmodified main fails before generation. Latest-head CI is still pending.

Agreed. Moving the K3-specific tests into tests/unittest/_torch/modeling_v2/models/kimi_k3_vl/ would let the existing family-prefix selection cover them. Moving only into the top-level modeling_v2/ tree would still leave them outside that family prefix. The migration should update the per-GPU YAML entries and helper imports together; shared communication tests also need to retain coverage for their other consumers. I suggest doing that as a focused follow-up. This PR keeps the explicit mapping so the native-library move does not drop the existing K3 kernel, communication, or RMSNorm coverage.

CI #66966 failed during B300 modeling_v2 collection with two import file mismatch errors: the Qwen target copies of test_modeling_v2_rms_norm_gated_token_major.py and test_modeling_v2_causal_conv1d_fwd.py collide with the top-level modeling_v2 files. These duplicates also exist on current main; this is not a K3 numerical assertion failure. Failure log.
Fixed in e8beecbb93 by giving the two Qwen files a qwen4_exp filename prefix. Git reports 100% renames with zero content changes, and SHA-256 verification confirms both files are byte-identical. Checked all 206 modeling_v2 test modules: no duplicate pytest import names remain. Pre-commit, test-list AST validation, and DCO passed. No tests were waived or removed.
Both CI builds passed on the previous head. The x86 run reported 74,515 passes and one failed outer suite; that failure caused fail-fast cancellation of remaining work, including ARM. The full rerun is still required. Previously posted K3 source-build/GPU/TP16 results remain applicable because this commit changes test filenames only.

Description
Follow up on #20893 by adopting the per-family native library conventions from #20896 for Kimi K3 modeling v2. Based on main at b72f1c1.
libth_modeling_v2_kimi_k3_vl.so, with sharedARCHS 100fcode and declarations for both TP16 targets. Remove K3 linkage from the stock libraries and its discovery exception.mv2_kimi_k3_vlTorch namespace. Load through the standard target/family loader and register family fakes on load. Missing builds retain the standardNoTargetbehavior. The stock attention-residual kernels and operators remain in place because built-in Kimi Linear also uses them. Kernel algorithms and the built-in model behavior are unchanged.
Validation
e8beecbb93fixes those with 100% filename-only renames; all 206 modeling_v2 test import names are now unique. Full CI rerun is required.Loader compatibility prerequisite
The TP16 diagnostic failed on both this PR and pinned main
b72f1c1e6fbecause the copied K3 expert adapters lagged the shared loader contract: missingoptional_suffixesand an obsolete five-argument callback. Commitc029345e89adds the empty optional-suffix default and accepts/ignores the optional getter for MXFP4 in both targets, with a stock-contract regression.
PR Checklist
Dev Engineer Review
Kimi K3 VL native operators now use Modeling V2 family and target libraries instead of stock-library linkage and the
trtllmnamespace. CMake discovers the K3 family and builds its shared and target sources. Shared attention-residual sources remain linked for other consumers.Python callers load family or target operators through the standard helpers. Fake registrations use the family namespace, and importing the
opspackage no longer imports_native. Required attention-residual operators no longer fall back to an unfused path when registrations are missing.CBTS now claims K3 family paths and selects configured K3 tests.
Construction and decode-step tests skip only when target imports raise
NoTarget.
