Summary

  • Copyright headers: A single git log --follow traversal can cross a merge onto an unrelated path and infer the wrong copyright years. Track each high-similarity rename from its commit parent and stop at copies, so the checker uses the file's own history.
  • Pyright pre-commit: A fresh nodeenv install can select the Node 27 alpha prerelease and fail while parsing 0-alpha, before Pyright runs. Use a locked Node wheel so fresh installs avoid the prerelease without rebuilding nodeenv on every run.

Test Plan

  • CI

for nodejs-wheel-binaries at 26.12.0rc0 and regenerate uv.lock; otherwise, leave
the dependency unchanged until a stable Node 26 wheel is published.

Walkthrough

The changes revise how copyright-year collection queries Git history for tracked paths. They also add the nodejs extra to the Pyright development dependency.

Changes: Copyright Header History

Layer / File(s) Summary
Per-path Git history
tests/test_check_copyright_headers.py
The function queries history for each tracked path and records years for matching changes. It follows renames from the rename commit’s parent, stops at copies, and adds the current year when the file has a nonempty Git status. The 92% rename threshold remains.

Pyright Development Dependency

Layer / File(s) Summary
Add Pyright Node.js extra
pyproject.toml
The dev dependency changes to pyright[nodejs]~=1.1.

Outside diff Add a synthetic git test for rename and working-tree status in collectyearssamefile.

122-140: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Add a synthetic git test for rename and working-tree status in collect_years_same_file.

The copyright tests only check the committed headers of live files. They never build a git history with explicit expected years. A regression in the rename or working-tree branches can pass CI if it leaves live-file output unchanged. The added test pins the rename and status behavior with known years.

Add a synthetic Git-history test for collect_years_same_file that verifies it
follows a file rename and includes the current year when the renamed file has
uncommitted changes. Use controlled commit dates and assert the expected years
for both the clean and modified working-tree states.
