brotli 9.0.0 was released on 2026-09-02. No source changes are needed in compression-codecs, only the version requirement is bumped, together with the matching dev-dependency in async-compression.

brotli 9.0.0 was released on 2026-09-02. This bumps the
brotlirequirement incompression-codecs, and the matching dev-dependency inasync-compression, from 8 to 9. No source changes were needed.Downstream crates such as
tower-httpget brotli throughcompression-codecs, so this is what currently keeps them on brotli 8.Tested with
RUSTFLAGS="--cfg async_compression_unstable":cargo test --all-featurescargo clippy --all-targets --all-features -- -D warningscargo fmt --all -- --checkEncoderParams::mode()exposes brotli'sBrotliEncoderModein its public signature, so this is visible in the public API. Previous brotli bumps (#292, #343) were handled the same way.
