The goals indicator reads the numbers of goals in the text of the goals buffer. A backend that gets them from Coq can give them directly by setting this function. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
coq-syntax uses functions and faces of generic/proof-syntax.el, which were only loaded as a side effect of proof-site. Require it explicitly, and let coq-mode add generic/ to the load-path when needed, so that coq-mode works with another backend than pg. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
New option coq-backend: pg (Proof General, the default) or nil (edition only), so that other backends can be added. It replaces coq-use-pg, now obsolete, which still gives its default value. With another backend than pg, coq-mode derives from prog-mode and the coq-mode stub of proof-site loads only coq-mode, not the Proof General machinery.
