Describe the bug
When using mpv as a player, syncplay crashes on launch. Here's console log:
qt.multimedia.symbolsresolver: Couldn't load pipewire-0.3 library
qt.multimedia.symbolsresolver: Couldn't resolve pipewire-0.3 symbols

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Launch syncplay with mpv player
See error
Expected behavior
Syncplay launches
Version and platform:
OS: SteamOS 3.8.14
Syncplay version and build type: SyncPlay 1.7.5
Media player and version: mpv 0.41.0
Additional context
Run via Determinate Nix, although same happens when SyncPlay is installed via pacman (for some reason it installs older version 1.7.4, the problem, however, is the same). Also see #787
I don't have SteamOS so unfortunately I can't be of much help. SteamOS is not on the list of supported platforms, so it is possible that changes would be needed to support this OS but I have no idea what they would be.
I did however fix the version detection I noticed, but doubt it is the root cause of your problem: b350f9d
Related to the crash pattern in #787 - if the media player fails to start, Syncplay's GUI can hit an unhandled AttributeError when you try to open a file, instead of showing a proper error message. Opened a fix for that specific crash in #794. It doesn't address why mpv itself failed to launch on your setup, but it should stop the resulting crash and surface a clearer message instead.
