Describe your idea
Hi,
I’ve been reviewing some of the damage warnings generated by PalDefender 1.9.0 on my server, and I’d like to get your opinion on how these warnings should be interpreted.
I initially suspected that some of the warnings might indicate modified or overpowered Pals, but after looking at the actual values more closely, I’m not so sure.
For example, I’m seeing warnings such as:
Rengeki – NightLady
NativeDamageValue: 1,182,000
Expected: 1,243,200
Difference: ~4.9%
And another instance:
Rengeki – NightLady
NativeDamageValue: 1,243,200
Expected: 1,273,200
Difference: ~2.4%
These seem like relatively small differences to me, especially considering that the calculation is being reconstructed by the anti-cheat.
There are also other warnings where the expected value is reported as 0, for example:
NativeDamageValue=... but expected BasePowerShotAttack=0 or BasePowerMeleeAttack=0 for unarmed
As I understand it, the 0 in these cases does not necessarily mean that the Pal should have dealt 0 damage, but rather that PalDefender could not calculate a normal expected damage value for that particular event.
I also noticed several warnings involving players attacking Pals with weapons, for example:
BasePower=250 above equipped weapon AttackValue=200
Since the attacker in these cases is BP_Player_Female_C, rather than a Pal, I assume these warnings are related to the weapon/damage calculation and should not be interpreted as evidence of a modified Pal.
My current conclusion
Based on these logs alone, I don't currently see convincing evidence that these players are using modified or overpowered Pals.
The Pal-based warnings I found mostly show relatively small differences between the NativeDamageValue and the calculated expected damage, while some other warnings appear to be cases where the expected value cannot be calculated normally.
My main concern is that my server is continuously generating these damage warnings, and after reviewing the logs, they don't all seem entirely justified to me. Most of the differences appear to be relatively small, and some of the warnings seem to occur when PalDefender cannot properly determine the expected damage.
I mainly want to understand whether these warnings are normal/expected behavior or whether they indicate something I should investigate further.
Thanks!
