Why

Codex Desktop did not list AlphaOptimizer's bundled hooks in Settings > Hooks even though hooks/hooks.json was present in the installed plugin.

Change

Declare "hooks": "./hooks/hooks.json" explicitly in the legacy Codex plugin manifest. This avoids relying only on default hook-file discovery.

Verification

  • Parsed the manifest JSON.
  • Verified the referenced file defines SessionStart and PostToolUse.
  • Reinstalled the local plugin and confirmed the cached manifest includes the explicit hook path.

Note

The upstream clean installed-plugin hook-delivery probe remains a separate release blocker.

Constraint: Older local plugin hosts may not surface default hook discovery reliably.\nRejected: Relying only on implicit hooks/hooks.json discovery | the Hooks UI did not list AlphaOptimizer entries.\nConfidence: medium\nScope-risk: narrow\nDirective: Keep the manifest hook path aligned with the packaged hook file.\nTested: Parsed manifest and verified SessionStart and PostToolUse definitions.\nNot-tested: Desktop hook UI refresh after restart.
