What was sitting there

.tmp_qa/ has been untracked in the working tree since 2026-08-01. It holds two complete coach homes:

.tmp_qa/home/ ledger.jsonl theses.jsonl revisit.jsonl rules.jsonl
                  problems.jsonl last_state.json log.jsonl projections/ cards/
.tmp_qa/dogfood/ (the same shape, plus ux/ and sessions/)
.tmp_qa/grounding-check.json

ledger.jsonl (#180) and card-private.* / card-public.* (#409) are already unanchored patterns, so they netted two of those files wherever they landed. Everything else — theses, revisit rows, rules, projections, cards/2024-03-01--78cc03bce744.md — carries the same tickers, amounts, dates and agent free text, with nothing stopping it from being staged by a wide git add.

Why an ignore entry and not a documentation fix

docs/qa-runbook.md already says to run with an isolated TRADE_COACH_HOME outside the repository. This is the backstop for when that does not happen, in the same shape as the #214 and #409 entries directly above it in .gitignore.

grep -rn '\.tmp_qa' across the repository returns nothing — no script, skill or doc writes this path. It was ad hoc, which is exactly why a doc rule would not have caught it.

Verification

  • git check-ignore -v .tmp_qa/dogfood/theses.jsonl → .gitignore:45:.tmp_qa/
  • git status no longer lists the tree
  • tests/test_privacy_lint.py 17/17, tests/test_repo_hygiene.py 17/17, tests/test_doc_language.py 38/38

The existing .tmp_qa/ directory is left in place on the working tree; this PR only stops it from entering git.

…h homes

A dogfood or grounding run started with an inline TRADE_COACH_HOME under the
repository rather than an isolated one outside it left `.tmp_qa/` behind with
`home/` and `dogfood/` inside -- each a complete coach home carrying
ledger.jsonl, theses.jsonl, revisit.jsonl, rules.jsonl, problems.jsonl,
projections and rendered cards.

`ledger.jsonl` and `card-private.*` / `card-public.*` already netted two of
those files at any depth. The rest of the tree carried the same tickers,
amounts and dates with nothing stopping it, and showed as untracked in
`git status` for six weeks.

Nothing in the repository writes this path -- it was ad hoc -- so this is a
backstop in the same shape as the #214 and #409 entries above it, not a
convention being introduced.

Privacy lint (17), repository hygiene (17) and documentation/agent workflow
(38) suites pass.
