Summary

Responds to the Node.js October 21, 2026 security releases and centralizes tool versions so the next bump is a one-line change.

Security updates

  • Node 24.22.1 for all CI, release, and smoke workflows (previously floating 24/22, which can resolve to an older cached runner version). Covers the Node CVEs plus bundled c-ares, OpenSSL, and CA-cert updates.
  • undici: the npm package shipped matching fixes on Oct 15 (TLS validation bypass, cache poisoning, several DoS).
    • cursor: 7.30.0 → 7.30.1 (dev-only, via cheerio).
    • pi: 8.10.2 → 8.12.2 via a pnpm-workspace.yaml override, following fix(pi): update transitive dependencies #183. 8.12.3 is blocked by minimumReleaseAge; 8.12.2 is the first patched 8.x.

One source for tool versions

  • New root .tool-versions pins node, pnpm, and rust (1.99.1, the current stable, instead of floating stable).
  • Workflows read it directly without mise:
    • actions/setup-node with node-version-file, used by the cursor release and Codex smoke test.
    • .github/actions/setup-node-pnpm replaces five duplicated pnpm and Node blocks in CI.
    • .github/actions/setup-rust replaces three rustup ... stable steps.
    • The pi and opencode release workflows point node_version at the root file.
  • A CI check fails if a pnpm package's packageManager drifts from .tool-versions.
  • The per-plugin .tool-versions files are removed. They pinned vite-plus 0.2.1 while the packages lock 0.2.9.

Local dev with mise

  • mise.toml holds local-only npm:vite-plus 0.2.9 and a postinstall hook that runs the new make install-deps, the same layout as braintrust-sdk-python.

Notes

  • The Codex smoke test moves from Node 22 to 24 to share the pin.
  • Pi and opencode releases dispatched against a SHA from before this merge won't have the root .tool-versions.
  • A full npm audit on cursor still flags unrelated dev-only deps (ajv, braces, markdown-it, underscore). They're left for a separate PR.

Test plan

  • make test passes locally. Grok validation can't run here: there's a stand-in grok command on PATH but no real CLI.
  • pi unit tests pass (22). Cursor npm ci, tsc, and npm audit --omit=dev are clean.
  • pi lockfile is stable on re-lock and --frozen-lockfile passes.
  • actionlint is clean.
  • mise install resolves all tools and runs make install-deps.
  • CI passes on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Pin Node to the patched 24.22.1 release and bump undici past the
October 15 advisories (cursor 7.30.1, pi 8.12.2 via a workspace override).

Centralize tool versions in a root .tool-versions (node, pnpm, rust) that
every workflow reads, pin Rust instead of floating on stable, and add a
local-only mise.toml whose postinstall hook runs `make install-deps`.

Is this necessary? If so, why not make it part of the setup-node-pnpm action?

This can't go in .tool-versions too?

Claude Code 2.1.310 retries after the mock's deterministic 400, so the
fourth request hit the mock's panic arm instead of the expected error.
