## Use of AI

Contributors are allowed to use AI for help with coding (e.g. OpenCode, DeepSeek, Qwen). However, contributions must remain human work.
You are the author of what you submit and are fully accountable for it. Concretely, submitting AI-generated work is not acceptable when you:

- were not in the loop while it was produced
- have not checked it with care yourself
- do not have reason to believe you understand it
- cannot explain it to a reviewer in your own words
- feed reviewer questions into an AI tool and relay its output back instead
of responding yourself

The list above is adapted from [Rust RFC 3950, "Contribution policy for
AI-generated work"](https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/3950).

The delaynet project is not anti-AI. It is opposed to mindless cognitive
offloading. Reviewing contributions costs real maintainer time and energy,
and we expect each contribution to be worth more than the review it requires.
We reserve the right to revisit this policy if we find that low-quality or
illegible AI-generated code is compromising the maintainability or integrity
of the codebase.
