Quick access to preview? #10
Description
Activity
Adding a note as a checklist and then having to hit preview then close the source. That's not really a good user experience. What I was hoping for is a toggle to open the preview instead of the source when I click the note.
Ah, I understand now. I apologize for closing this without getting more clarification. I'll see what I can do.
Reacted by Alexis Tyler@OmgImAlexis sorry this took so long. Two changes get close to what you asked for:
-
Right-click a Markdown note and choose Open Preview, like in the Explorer.
-
Notes now open with whichever editor VS Code uses for the file type, so you can make your notes open straight into the preview with this in your settings (adjust
Notesto the name of your notes folder):"workbench.editorAssociations": { "**/Notes/**/*.md": "vscode.markdown.preview.editor" }
That only affects Markdown files inside your notes folder.
Both are in #101 and will be in the next release. I'm leaving this open while I decide whether Notes should also get its own setting for opening notes in the preview.

@OmgImAlexis I've decided not to add a separate Notes setting for this, since VS Code's own
workbench.editorAssociationsalready does it, and Notes now follows it. The snippet above opens the notes in your notes folder straight into the preview, and Open Preview in the right-click menu covers the times you only want a quick look. Both will be in the next release. Thanks again for the suggestion, and for your patience!

Would be nice to see the note in preview mode for checklists, etc.
Maybe an icon could be added next to the rename and delete button?
