Summary

  • Supersedes ci(deps): bump actions/create-github-app-token from 3.2.0 to 3.3.0 in the actions group #19, chore(deps): bump the cargo-minor-patch group across 1 directory with 9 updates #20.
  • Raises workspace MSRV (rust-version) from 1.95 to 1.99.1 across Cargo.toml, .github/workflows/ci.yml, docker/Dockerfile, and project documentation.
  • Upgrades all workspace, crate, and fuzz/ dependencies to their latest compatible versions (including parking_lot 0.13, tokio 1.54, clap 4.6, dashmap 6.2, rkyv 0.8.18, uuid 1.29, regex 1.13, csv 1.4, bytes 1.12, hwlocality 1.0.0-alpha.13, flate2 1.1, tempfile 3.27, assert_cmd 2.2, predicates 3.1, arbitrary 1.5, serde_json 1.0.154, toml 1.1.8, mlua 0.12.2, rustls 0.23.46, rustls-webpki 0.103.16, tokio-rustls 0.26.6, ctutils 0.4.6), resolving all 6 cargo-deny / cargo-audit advisories.
  • Removes 7 unreferenced [workspace.dependencies] entries (tokio-util, pcap, rayon, rusqlite, csv, tera, printpdf) from the root Cargo.toml.
  • Updates actions/create-github-app-token from v3.2.0 to v3.3.0 across .github/workflows/gemini-*.yml and guards Gemini CLI execution with a credential check so runs without configured Gemini/Vertex credentials skip cleanly instead of failing CI.
  • Fixes .github/workflows/fuzz.yml so the targets dispatch input is validated and resolved into the fuzz matrix and the build cache points at fuzz/target instead of target.
  • Adds -f (--fail) to Windows Npcap curl commands in ci.yml and release.yml.

Note

Medium Risk
MSRV bump and broad dependency upgrades (including parking_lot 0.13 and sqlx/sqlite stack in the lockfile) affect all builds; runtime behavior changes are possible though changes are mostly tooling and manifests.

Overview
Raises the workspace MSRV to Rust 1.99.1 and aligns CI (msrv job), Docker build args, and contributor docs with that floor.

Refreshes dependencies via root Cargo.toml / Cargo.lock (and fuzz/): notable bumps include tokio 1.54, clap 4.6, parking_lot 0.13, dashmap 6.2, rkyv 0.8.18, and related transitive updates. Several unused [workspace.dependencies] entries are removed from the root manifest.

Hardens CI workflows: Gemini pipelines now detect missing API/WIF credentials and skip (with notices) instead of failing; actions/create-github-app-token moves to v3.3.0. Fuzz workflow adds a resolve-targets job so manual targets input is validated and drives the matrix, caches fuzz/target, and records targets in the summary. Windows Npcap downloads use curl -fL in CI and release builds.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Compatibility
    • The minimum supported Rust version is now 1.99.1. Update your toolchain before building the project.
  • Documentation
    • Build instructions and Rust version references have been updated to match the new minimum.
  • Maintenance
    • Windows download steps now treat HTTP error responses as failures, improving the reliability of automated builds. The fuzzing workflow can also run all known targets or a selected list.

The pull request updates workspace dependencies and raises the minimum Rust version to 1.99.1. It adds target selection to the fuzz workflow, gates Gemini workflow actions on credential configuration, and changes Windows Npcap downloads to fail on HTTP errors.

The dependency and Rust version updates resolve correctly. Two small workflow gaps remain. Dispatching the fuzz workflow with a repeated target name can make an artifact upload fail. The Gemini skip check can still run Gemini when only a mode setting is configured. Both gaps are optional follow-ups and do not block merging.

The Gemini credential guards treat disabled mode flags as credentials, allowing unauthenticated runs instead of skipping them.

is skipped when none of the supported authentication methods is configured.
