Need

Inline code should look like the neutral Badge in both themes, as in consuming sites that render code chips with the badge tokens, such as the Guardian API reference.

Problem

In dark mode, prose inline code used background-overlay. That's near-black (0.112), darker than the badge grey (0.281), so it looked different from the badges beside it.

Change

  • Prose inline code uses badge-background-neutral and badge-text-neutral. These are the non-status tokens that Alert and MetricCard use, not the not-started status pair.
  • Light mode is unchanged, because the neutral tokens have the same values as the old greyscale-200 and text-secondary.
  • Released as 0.15.1, with a changelog entry.

Testing

  • pnpm run build passes, including check:source.
  • All 218 docs tests pass.

Not covered

  • Not checked in a browser.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Inline code in dark mode used the overlay background, darker than
Equality's badges. It now uses the badge neutral tokens, which match
the old light-mode values, so light mode is unchanged.
