Saves the 2.5.0 docs, with the real wheel reports, as the version the site serves once a newer release ships.

Opened by release.yml with github.token, so no checks start on their own. The job starts CI and the docs build check on this branch; if either is missing, run it on the branch from the Actions tab, and check the Vercel preview.

The docs build check fails until these redirects move. main does not require that check, so push the fix to this branch before merging:

  • vercel.json sends /2.4.x/ addresses to latest. Now that 2.5 is current, send them to the same pages under /v2.4/; where a rule's source also lists latest and dev, split it so those keep their destination.

2.5 is now latest, so /2.4.x/ addresses go to the same pages under /v2.4/,
and /2.4.x/install/min-version.html to 2.4's own min-version page. The
rules that also matched latest and dev are split, so those keep their
destinations. check_old_links.py on a local build: 329 of 329 old
addresses land on their version's page (269 before).
