The other DCB entries use the form "DCB-4J 4-string Dual Ceramic Jazz Bass Pickup Set". This entry is named "DCB4P Set". Use a descriptive official name such as "DCB-4P 4-string Dual Ceramic P Bass Pickup Set". Confirm the exact name with the maker page. The PR notes already list this as an open question.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Place D.I. 1 on the front panel.
The manual lists D.I. 1 under front-panel features and D.I. 2 under rear-panel features. XLR Output 1 is therefore assigned the rear-panel position incorrectly. Set its position to the catalog’s front-face value. (cdn.shopify.com)
As per path instructions, “Rear-panel jacks on pedals, desktop units, and rack gear use position: Right.”

Confirmed but not changed, leaving open. The manual does list D.I. 1 under Front Panel Features (D.I. 2 is on the rear). But position only allows Top/Bottom/Left/Right, and the catalog docs define no value for a front-face jack (the corpus encodes front-panel jacks inconsistently, e.g. this entry's own Instrument Input is also Right). Picking an edge would be a guess, so a person should decide the convention for front-panel jacks first.

@jeffreylouden Thanks for the clarification. My recommendation assumed a documented front-face value that the catalog does not define. Do not guess a replacement for position: Right.
This finding should remain open pending a front-panel convention. No code change is confirmed.

Learning: In existential-engineering/catalog, hardware YAML `io[].position` permits Top, Bottom, Left, and Right, but the catalog documentation does not define a front-face mapping for rack gear. For data/hardware/aguilar-db-700.yaml, the manual places D.I. 1 on the front panel and D.I. 2 on the rear panel. Do not prescribe a replacement position for D.I. 1 without an established front-panel convention.

When product documentation identifies a jack as rear-mounted but `schema/io-positions.yaml` does not define `rear` or `back`, use `position: Right`, consistent with `data/hardware/dbx-160a.yaml`.Learnt from: jeffreylouden Repo: existential-engineering/catalog PR: 630 File: data/hardware/black-lion-audio-pbr-tt-lit.yaml:40-45 Timestamp: 2026-08-16T04:42:51.753Z Learning: In hardware I/O YAML entries, use `position` to identify the physical face or edge of the unit (`Top`, `Bottom`, `Left`, or `Right`), not a row number. Use `rowPosition` as the independent 1-based top-to-bottom ordering for rows on the same face. For Black Lion Audio PBR patchbays, both front-panel TT rows use `position: Top` with `rowPosition: 1` and `rowPosition: 2`, while rear-panel DB25 I/O uses `position: Bottom`.

Headless catalog import
Counts
Mode note
The tier plan marked this brand
greenfield, but the catalog already carries31 Aguilar entries. The run was executed as planned: ownership was matched on
each product's URL against the
manufacturer:field (ADR-0012), the 31 wereskipped, and nothing existing was touched. A merge refresh
(
/catalog-import-merge aguilar) is what would update those entries, and thisPR is not that.
What was added
pickuppreampbass-amplifierThe catalog carried no Aguilar pickups at all before this, while pickups
are a large part of what the company sells.
Axis choice. The pickups and the OBP preamps are filed on the accessory
axis per ADR-0019's capability predicate: neither has a jack another device
plugs into (pickups have lead wires, the OBP boards a solder harness), so
question 1 fails and question 3 carries them. The accessory schema forbids
io, which matches the products. Worth a reviewer's eye: the corpus iscurrently split on this, with 20
pickupentries on the hardware axis and 12on the accessory axis, which is the inconsistency ADR-0019 was written
against. These 30 follow the ADR rather than the larger pile.
passive-pickupis set on all 30: Aguilar sells onboard preamplificationseparately as the OBP series, so none of these carries a preamp.
Confidence flags
None at
low. The 30 pickups and 3 preamps areconfidence.categorieshighor medium with
descriptionmedium, all read from the store's own producttext.
Data review
maker's voice ("Our 60's J-style pickups...", "we went through a unique
prototyping process"). 13 entries were rewritten to neutral third person
in the envelopes, so the fix reached every generated file rather than
one at a time. No wording beyond the banned pattern was changed.
Teflon?mojibake, fixed in the DCB-4J specs (an®lost in thestore's own encoding).
Formvar(27) andLakland(2) are flagged as misspellings and arenot. Formvar is the standard magnet-wire insulation in pickup winding
and Lakland is a bass maker. The allow list admits any word three or more
catalog entries already use, and the catalog carried none of these
before, so the flags clear themselves once this PR lands.
io. The pagesays only that its impedance handling suits a wide range of cabinets and
never enumerates the jacks or their connector. A 700W head plainly has
them, so this entry is incomplete on purpose:
/io-enrichagainst theowner's manual is the way to add them, and guessing speakON versus
1/4-inch would have been a wrong claim rather than a missing one.
io-lint uniform-positionon the DB 700 is unresolved. All 10 portsare
Rightper the rear-panel convention for rack gear, but the panelwas not inspected, and on a rack bass head the instrument input and
headphone out are usually on the front. Its sibling
aguilar-db-751puts every jack on
Left, so the two now disagree. Settle both with themanual rather than from the storefront.
OBP-1,OBP-2,OBP-3from thestore titles, while the descriptions call them "OBP-1 SK" and "OBP-2 SK".
If the SK suffix is part of the model name, these want renaming.
DCB4P Setkeeps the store's terse title. Its siblings are named in full("DCB-4PJ 4-string Dual Ceramic PJ Bass Pickup Set"), so this one reads
thin, but inventing the long form is not this lane's call.
Deterministic checks
data/hardware/aguilar-db-700.yamlCoverage reported nothing: every one of the 34 entries kept at least one
image, and no image is shared between entries.
supersedes-resolve.tsproduced no links, which is correct here: the pickups are siblings sold in
parallel, and the DB 700 does not replace the DB 751, which Aguilar still
sells.
Images
68 of 74 downloaded images survived selection, across all 34 entries, and are
uploaded to R2 under each entry's id.
The manufacturer logo was deliberately not refreshed. The only header
logo the site serves is
Aguilar_30th_Logo.png, a time-limited 30thanniversary lockup, and the alternative is a white-on-transparent SVG that
would not render on a light background. Replacing a clean brand mark with
either is a judgement for a person, so the existing logo was left alone.
