Fix frame validation and decode errors in the V2 parser - #7
Conversation
Reviewer's GuideThe parser now validates standard data frames and per-ID payload lengths before decoding, correctly handles signed current, firmware chunk lengths, and installation position, while encoding and transmission derive CAN metadata from the message type. Aggregate motor-limit snapshots now safely index valid motors and become valid only after all six replies, with regression tests covering the corrected wire and interface behavior. Oversized firmware payload lengths still pass validation and cause an out-of-bounds read.

What changed in this PR
Hardens V2 CAN parsing and corrects feedback decoding, outgoing frame metadata, and motor-limit aggregation.
Changes:
- Validate incoming frame types and minimum lengths; correct feedback fields.
- Set encoded frame metadata and require all six motor-limit replies for aggregate validity.
- Document validity semantics and add seven regression tests.

**Malformed identifiers become valid feedback**
When a frame has reserved identifier bits set outside `CAN_SFF_MASK`, with no EFF, RTR, or ERR flag, `decodeMessage` masks off the reserved bits and `canIdToMsgType()` accepts the remaining known Piper ID, so callers receive data from a malformed frame as valid feedback.
Reject frames with reserved identifier bits set before masking or decoding the CAN ID.

**Lost reply leaves limits unavailable**
When a motor-limit query or its reply is dropped, `searchAllMotorLimits()` sends each motor query once during `piperInit()` and has no retry or later refresh path; one lost query or reply leaves that motor’s caller uninitialized, so the aggregate limit state never becomes valid for the session.
Retry missing motor-limit queries until all six replies arrive or a bounded timeout is reported to the caller.

**Short frames include phantom bytes**
When a valid decoded frame has a DLC below eight, such as a six-byte motion-control-2 frame, `decodeMessage` accepts complete short frames but then copies all eight bytes into `msg.raw_data`; callers inspecting the raw payload, including the parser read script, see bytes beyond the frame’s DLC as if they arrived on the bus.
Copy only `can_dlc` bytes into `raw_data` and preserve the received DLC so callers can report the actual payload length.

+}
+
</code_context>
<issue_to_address>
**Joint encoding loses upper bytes**
When the encoder writes only the least-significant byte of `joint_1`, `EncoderDerivesIdAndDlcFromType` checks only `tx.data[3]`, so an encoder that serializes `1000` as `00 00 00 E8` instead of `00 00 03 E8` still passes and the test misses corrupted joint values.
Assert the complete expected byte sequence for `joint_1`, including `tx.data[2] == 0x03`.
</issue_to_address>Sourcery assessment
Needs a human reviewer. 4 findings to address first, and outgoing commands now take their CAN ID from the message type and are sent using the encoded frame length; if that mapping or payload is wrong, a motor could receive and act on a command before the change is reverted. Reverting prevents future sends but cannot undo motion that has already occurred.
Blocking findings: piper_cpp/src/protocol/piper_parser_v2.cpp:94, piper_cpp/src/interface/piper_interface_v2.cpp:37, piper_cpp/src/protocol/piper_parser_v2.cpp:108, piper_cpp/test/piper_parser_v2_test.cpp:86

Fixes the decode-side issues from the review: malformed frames were decoded from bytes
that were never on the bus, negative motor current read as a large positive value, the
encoder emitted frames with ID 0 and DLC 0, the installation position was never decoded,
and the "all motor limits" state could index motor[-1] and reported valid after one reply.
bytes the decoder reads for that ID (per-ID minimum, not a blanket 8). Firmware text
chunks are copied by DLC.
signed=True). Derived effort keeps the sign; this is a state reading, nothing in the
command path uses it.
one caller per motor, so is_valid means all six replies arrived, matching the six 0x472
queries piperInit() sends. Nothing in the ROS plugin or scripts gates on these.
Seven new tests (parser golden frames, interface aggregate behaviour over a socketpair),
each verified to fail on the previous code.
