Speaking of shrinking the language, David Beazley's 2022 "Python Distilled" attempts to get the core features of the language into one, smallish book. Beazley recalls his much earlier work ,"Python Essential Reference", written when Python was a much smaller language. "It was something that could mostly fit in your brain" (Beazley 2022, p.xii). It was small enough so you could write some Python on a desert island or stuck inside a secret vault ;-)
