Summary

Fixes #5660 by adding qoder as an officially supported client integration and config export target (~/.qoder/settings.json).

Changes

  • Client Configuration Export:
    • Implemented src/clients/config-export/qoder.ts with buildQoderClientConfig, summarizeQoder, and buildQoderContribution.
    • Registered qoder in EXPORT_CLIENTS and ExportClientId (src/clients/config-export.ts).
    • Formats OpenAI-compatible proxy settings under providers.opencodex and proxy model roster under modelConfigs.customModels (${provider}/${model}).
    • Enforces loopback protection: placeholder API key is rejected on non-loopback bindings.
  • Client Lifecycle Management:
    • Registered in src/integrations/registry.ts and src/integrations/mutation-plan.ts.
    • Cleanly strips owned opencodex entries on restore/uninstall while preserving foreign providers and custom models.
  • Testing & Documentation:
    • Added tests/clients/qoder-client.test.ts covering export structure, casing rules (baseUrl vs baseURL), placeholder rejection on non-loopback, and state management.
    • Updated guides and structure documentation.

Validation

  • bun x tsc --noEmit: 0 errors
  • bun test tests/clients/qoder-client.test.ts: 6 passed, 0 failed
  • bun test tests/config/client-config-export.test.ts tests/clients/integrations-state.test.ts: 132 passed, 0 failed

Review readiness checklist

  • Required local validation passed; commands, results, and any full-suite exception are documented.
  • I pushed my PR to a recent dev commit (at most 10 behind; a maintainer may still ask for the exact tip before merge).
  • I resolved all correct Codex and CodeRabbit findings.
  • My PR is ready for review.

📝 Walkthrough

Qoder is added as a configuration export client and managed integration. Its configuration includes provider and custom-model entries, uses loopback-only placeholder credentials, and supports managed settings updates and cleanup.

Changes: Qoder client integration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Configuration export and registration
src/clients/config-export/contracts.ts, src/clients/config-export/qoder.ts, src/clients/config-export.ts, src/cli/*, tests/config/*, tests/clients/qoder-client.test.ts
Adds Qoder to the export registry and CLI. The builder generates provider and custom-model entries, uses model context limits or a 128000-token fallback, and rejects non-loopback endpoints or API auth-header injection. Managed contributions reject model IDs that the selector grammar cannot represent.
Managed settings lifecycle
src/integrations/mutation-plan.ts, src/integrations/registry.ts, tests/clients/integrations-state.test.ts, tests/clients/qoder-client.test.ts, scripts/test-layout/layout.json, tests/fixtures/test-layout-expected.json
Registers Qoder’s settings path and managed provider and model paths. Tests cover apply, refresh, disable, restore, loopback checks, preservation of unrelated settings, and ambiguous selectors.
GUI registration and documentation
gui/src/app-routing.ts, gui/src/components/*, gui/src/pages/integrations/*, gui/src/i18n/*, gui/tests/*, docs-site/src/content/docs/guides/integrations.md, structure/clients/integrations.md, structure/dashboard-and-usage.md
Adds Qoder to GUI client lists, integration tabs, route hashes, and locale catalogs. Documentation describes the settings path, merge and cleanup behavior, model defaults, and loopback requirement.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to ef03f

Qoder configuration may be written where Qoder does not read it, while CLI ordering and documentation remain inconsistent. Resolve these integration and discoverability issues before merging.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to ef03f

The new integration writes to a local Qoder settings file and restricts configurations that use placeholder credentials to loopback operation. Existing ownership and recovery controls limit the apparent impact, but the destination and admission assumptions merit confirmation.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The directly evidenced persistent write scope is the resolved Qoder settings file and its managed provider and model entries, rather than a new shared service or credential store. Exposure through an alternate Qoder settings location remains unverified.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Export and managed writes cross separate admission paths: export checks both URL hostname and configuration, while the managed writer checks the configuration-derived admission condition. The contribution builder intentionally remains usable for classification and cleanup after a bind change.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Disable checks recorded ownership before removal and rechecks file bytes before committing; Qoder-specific tests assert preservation of foreign entries and recovery of prior settings.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Confirm Qoder's effective settings-location contract. If it supports redirection, resolve that location consistently for export, install detection and managed mutation so ownership follows the file Qoder reads.
  • proposed — Keep managed-write admission tied to the effective generated proxy endpoint as well as the configuration policy if callers can supply a base URL independently of that policy.

Explanation

The PR implements the core Qoder document and managed-fragment behavior in src/clients/config-export/qoder.ts. The builder writes one custom model per normalized model, uses the requested context-window fallback, and rejects non-loopback targets. The Qoder tests cover export shape, preservation, cleanup, restore, and selector rejection. However, syncEnabledClientIntegrations in src/server/management/config-routes.ts still passes ['mcode', 'pi', 'aside', 'raycast', 'omo', 'cline'] to refreshOwnedCatalogIntegrations; it omits qoder. The corresponding resync path in src/cli/dispatch.ts also omits qoder. An enabled Qoder configuration can therefore retain stale models after a proxy roster change. The implementation also keeps explicit enablement instead of treating a missing clientIntegrations.qoder value as enabled, as required by issue #5660. The supplied changes do not add the requested diagnostic for External Provider is not enabled for the current user. In src/clients/config-export/qoder.ts, buildQoderClientConfig validates ctx.baseUrl but does not resolve the effective loopback listener port; the export path can therefore use a stale or incorrect port when the loopback-only listener is configured.

Resolution

Add qoder to every catalog-refresh list used by startup and model-resync flows, including src/server/management/config-routes.ts and src/cli/dispatch.ts. Implement durable-switch semantics for clientIntegrations.qoder so a missing value enables Qoder and an explicit false value disables it. Build the export context with the same loopback-only listener and effective-port resolution used by the enable path. Add a targeted diagnostic for the Qoder entitlement error, or document and implement the agreed diagnostic integration point.

src/clients/config-export/qoder.ts - qoderConfigPath가 QODER_CONFIG_DIR를 보지 않아요.

켜기(enable)는 src/integrations/state.ts에서 설정을 넘기므로 그 주소는 맞아요.

External Provider is not enabled for the current user를 쉬운 말로 알려 주면 좋겠다고 했어요.

Requesting changes on exact head 943e4d74. The backend/export layer adds Qoder as a sixteenth client, but the GUI integration registry remains at fifteen and has no qoder entry. The current integration-invariants test pins the complete registry, so Qoder cannot be surfaced/configured consistently and the rebased invariant will fail.

Add Qoder to the authoritative GUI/client registry and its complete typed seed, update the count/invariant and focused UI/export coverage, then rebase this conflicting branch onto current dev. No executable exact-head CI is present.

Rechecked exact head ca54079b16e88f6018b4dbc3b028b7f6ed61f82f. The prior GUI/typed-registry blocker is fixed, but three current-head integration blockers remain:

  1. qoderConfigPath and registry detection ignore Qoder's supported QODER_CONFIG_DIR, so relocated installations are written/detected at the wrong path. Resolve one directory from the supplied launch env for both export and detection, with a relocated-path regression.
  2. Qoder is absent from the normal owned-catalog synchronization lists in management config routes, CLI dispatch, and catalog refresh. Preserve explicit enable/ownership semantics, but refresh an already-owned Qoder integration through every standard sync path.
  3. CLI export builds Qoder's URL without the configured unauthenticated-loopback listener. When that dedicated port is enabled, placeholder credentials can be exported against the authenticated public port and fail. Pass the listener configuration through the existing URL helper and test the split-port case.

The three existing CodeRabbit threads for these paths remain valid/unresolved. Exact-head Cross-platform CI and React Doctor are also action_required with zero jobs; obtain executable exact-head CI after fixing them.

Rechecked rebased exact head ef03f5a. The prior GUI registry gap is fixed, but the three requested integration fixes are still absent: qoderConfigPath still ignores QODER_CONFIG_DIR; Qoder is still missing from the ordinary owned-catalog synchronization paths; and CLI export still calls proxyV1BaseUrl without the configured unauthenticated-loopback listener, so split-port setups can export the placeholder against the authenticated port. The current tests pin ~/.qoder and a single live port, so they do not cover those failures. Existing CHANGES_REQUESTED remains applicable; exact-head executable CI is also not present yet.

Release train 4 triage: please keep this PR open, but hold the settings writer. Qoder's CLI docs explicitly say not to configure BYOK manually in settings.json (https://docs.qoder.com/cli/custom-models), and its settings reference does not document the proposed providers/modelConfigs.customModels contract (https://docs.qoder.com/cli/settings-reference). The reference also documents QODER_CONFIG_DIR, which the current path handling ignores. Could you provide a supported import path or official schema, including the effective configuration directory, before this writer lands?

Rechecked on 2026-10-08 against head ef03f5abce and dev bbab02ab27. The September 27 hold still applies, so this stays open and unmerged.

Upstream contract. Qoder's current CLI docs still route BYOK through the Custom wizard in /model and say "Do not configure BYOK manually in settings.json" (CLI custom models). The settings reference documents modelConfigs.aliases, customAliases, overrides and customOverrides, but neither a top-level providers object nor modelConfigs.customModels, which are the keys this writer produces. CLI 1.1.50 added custom URL endpoints, again only through the /model wizard (release notes). No import command or environment variable registers a provider.

Open review items at this head.

  1. qoderConfigPath and registry detection ignore the documented QODER_CONFIG_DIR (src/clients/config-export/qoder.ts:9, src/integrations/registry.ts:192).
  2. Qoder is missing from the owned-catalog sync rosters in src/server/management/config-routes.ts, src/cli/dispatch.ts and src/integrations/catalog-refresh.ts.
  3. CLI export resolves the base URL without config (src/cli/export-command.ts:111), so a split unauthenticated-loopback listener exports the placeholder key against the authenticated port.
  4. The branch conflicts with dev in 20 files, mostly around the Kilo and Factory Droid client additions.

Ways forward. One is an upstream-published provider registration schema or import path, followed by a writer adapted to it and proof that a real Qoder install reads it. The other is rescoping to a read-only export: copyable Base URL, key and model IDs for Qoder's supported Models UI or /model wizard, without automatic settings ownership. Either one would also need items 1–4 above.

Visual change: adds the Qoder tab and overview card plus the Qoder settings path and rollback section.

Captured the not-installed state; Qoder apply/restore was not exercised. This older PR head is v2.68.0, so comparison with current dev also shows intervening navigation/layout changes.

HOLD: UI change — not merging; awaiting maintainer (@lidge-jun) review of the screenshots above.

Rebased onto dev as a single commit for lidge-jun#5950. Kept every client that dev added (Command Code, Kilo, Factory Droid) and placed Qoder beside them in each list, raising the client counts to nineteen. Dev's new CLI integration-plan decoder now lists qoder and accepts its modelConfigs.customModels.* managed path, matching the GUI decoder.

Addresses the remaining review findings on lidge-jun#5950:

- qoderHomeDir resolves QODER_CONFIG_DIR (absolute or ~-relative; relative values are refused) and both the config path and integration detection use it.
- Owned-catalog refresh in ocx sync, /api/sync and catalog refresh now includes qoder.
- ocx export --client qoder asks the live /api/client-config route, like Raycast and Factory Droid, so the serving process's bind and unauthenticated loopback listener decide the exported URL. The split-port case is covered by the shared listener-policy test.

clients/integrations.md was already at its 600-line budget on dev, so the Qoder section now lives in its own registered doc and is linked from the existing introduction.
Dev added a pt catalog after this branch was cut, so it lacked the three Qoder keys. Qoder joins the product-name allowlists for zh-TW and French alongside Kilo and Factory Droid.

lidge-jun dismissed stale reviews from Ingwannu and Ingwannu October 13, 2026 18:20

Resolved: the GUI integration registry, tabs, overview rows and typed client lists all include qoder on the current head (62745db), and tests/gui/integrations-invariants.test.ts pins the nineteen-client registry. Dismissing so the PR can be integrated per Jun's approval.

Maintainer integration into dev (Jun approved the UI changes in this PR).

  • Rebased onto dev 12d5c1bfb (after feat: add provider-independent advisor runtime #5955, feat(codex): add opt-in Windows desktop compatibility controls #6079 and feat(claude): configure CLI tier defaults and explicitly apply user settings #6934) and pushed as 62745db44. The commit authored by @codingbooo holds the original work, with conflicts resolved by keeping every client dev added (Command Code, Kilo, Factory Droid) and placing Qoder in this PR's approved position. Client counts are now nineteen. Dev's CLI integration-plan decoder now lists qoder and accepts modelConfigs.customModels.*.
  • Follow-ups on the branch:
    • The Qoder ownership notes moved to structure/clients/qoder.md, because clients/integrations.md was already at its 600-line budget.
    • The Portuguese catalog got the three Qoder strings, and "Qoder" joined the zh-TW and French product-name allowlists.
    • QODER_CONFIG_DIR is honored for export, writing and detection.
    • Qoder is in every standard owned-catalog refresh path.
    • ocx export --client qoder uses the live listener policy.
    • The French loopback wording was clarified.
  • The earlier change requests and all CodeRabbit threads are answered, resolved and dismissed with the fixing commits cited. The Qoder client order stays as approved; it is the one CodeRabbit suggestion not adopted.
  • The 2026-09-27 maintainer hold about Qoder's BYOK-in-settings.json guidance was lifted by Jun's decision to integrate.
  • Exact-head Ubuntu PR CI for 62745db44: all 22 checks passed (8 skipped by the PR-only policy). The two failing checks listed earlier were stale enforce-target runs from older heads.
  • Locally: typecheck, structure, privacy and skill-surface checks pass; the GUI suite passes 3298/3298 on its own and 3328/3328 stacked with feat(codex): add opt-in Windows desktop compatibility controls #6079 and feat(claude): configure CLI tier defaults and explicitly apply user settings #6934. The targeted Qoder, export, sync and integration suites pass.

Thank you @codingbooo for the Qoder integration.
