Review comments at @src/adapters/cursor/protobuf-request.ts:
- Around line 872-874: Add a regression test in the Cursor tool-result
normalization tests that exercises the native paired tool-result path through
encodeCursorRunRequest and decodeResultParts with a valid audio part containing
a unique marker. Assert that the marker is emitted as a text content item,
covering direct decoding rather than the registered route.
Review comments at @src/adapters/ollama-native.ts:
- Line 293: Add focused Bun coverage for audio rejection through
createOllamaNativeAdapter(...).buildRequest(...): pass an audio content part and
assert it throws the “ollama-native cannot send audio content” error before any
transport occurs.
Review comments at @src/responses/input-media.ts:
- Line 25: Restrict the audio exemption in the Chat guard to `input_audio`,
since `inputContentParts` currently drops `audio` blocks; alternatively, add
parser support for `audio` in both user content and tool output before exempting
it. Add a regression test confirming the selected behavior and preventing
requests from succeeding with dropped audio attachments.
- Around line 85-91: Update the role classification in the message branch using
contentMedia so developer messages use a distinct scan position from user
messages. Allow that position to accept inline documents but reject inline
audio, while preserving user audio support and existing developer document
support.

Contract/coverage review at b969cb1. The new audio carrier changes a shared IR and the final translated-wire admission contract, but none of the owning structure documents is updated. In particular structure/adapters/registry.md under “Untranslated input media” still states that audio has no lossless normalized carrier and is refused; it also states that the scanner never copies payloads, whereas the new allowAudio path invokes the normalizing parser. Update that authority and the mapped adapter/transport explanations with supported positions/formats, tool-result promotion, refusal semantics, byte/token-accounting limitations and native passthrough boundaries. The Pi user guide alone does not repair those contradictory contracts. The new behavioral test also needs registration as noted below. Current rollup has gate/bot checks but no functional CI execution; no local or live audio request was run in this review.

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.Document the raw-base64 form.
This section lists inline data URLs, but
src/responses/audio.ts:30–46also accepts raw base64 when the format is explicitlywavormp3. Add that form so the compatibility contract matches the parser.Proposed wording
-`input_audio` parts with an inline WAV/MP3 data URL are supported on the translated Chat wire. +`input_audio` parts with an inline WAV/MP3 data URL, or raw base64 with an explicit `wav`/`mp3` format, are supported on the translated Chat wire.

Re-review at 0967957: both blockers from my review 5563140832 are addressed. The audio test is registered in both layout maps, and the owning structure documents now explain the supported WAV/MP3 positions, tool-result promotion, refusal behavior, estimated accounting and native passthrough boundary.
Independent Linux/Bun 1.4.3 validation in isolated homes and a capped cgroup: 157 tests passed across the seven changed audio/admission/adapter regression files; six layout/membership tests passed; scripts/structure-ssot.ts passed. The root typecheck exceeded the 300-second workload deadline (75% CPU, 1536 MiB maximum, no swap), so it remains unverified locally. Full-suite and live-provider/other-platform validation were not performed.
I am withdrawing my superseded change request. Approval remains on hold for current-head functional CI/typecheck evidence and completion of the remaining review/readiness requirements, including the open orphan-tool-result wording thread. The successful metadata gates alone do not establish runtime readiness.
Superseded by re-review of 0967957: both original test-map and structure-contract blockers are fixed, with 157 focused tests, six layout checks and structure SSOT passing. Current-head CI/typecheck/readiness remain outstanding; this withdrawal is not an approving review.
Parse Codex input_audio data URLs into a typed IR part, send WAV/MP3 as Chat input_audio parts, and promote tool-result audio into a follow-up user message. Refuse unsupported or remote audio at the adapter boundary and charge decoded bytes during input admission.
Refuse the Chat-shaped audio part in Responses input, keep developer audio out of the translated Chat role path while preserving developer documents, and add Cursor and Ollama fallback coverage.
Update the adapter authority, Chat compatibility, inbound boundary, and byte-accounting contracts for supported inline WAV/MP3 audio, tool-result promotion, refusal positions, native passthrough boundaries, and decoded-byte admission.
Include orphan-tool-result audio in the promotion contract and document raw base64 with an explicit WAV/MP3 format.

Current head 7452d40 is rebased onto dev d11f067 (0 commits behind). Local validation: bun run typecheck passed; 338 tests across 14 files passed; bun run structure:check and bun run privacy:scan passed. The orphan-tool-result placement and raw-base64 contract wording are fixed, and that review thread is resolved. Cross-platform CI remains action_required pending maintainer approval; no live provider audio request was run. |

Summary
input_audioblocks (WAV/MP3 data URLs) in user content and tool results, and send them to OpenAI Chat as nativeinput_audioparts. Tool-result audio is promoted into a follow-up user message because Chat tool messages are text-only.audiospelling and developer audio are refused before translation, while developer documents remain supported. Add Cursor and Ollama fallback coverage. This fixes the translated Chat path that previously returned

Required local validation passed; commands, results, and any full-suite exception are documented.
I pushed my PR to a recent dev commit (at most 10 behind; a maintainer may still ask for the exact tip before merge).
I resolved all correct Codex and CodeRabbit findings.
