Let deployments change behaviour without code changes, for example:

  • LOG_LEVEL=DEBUG
  • LOG_FORMAT=json|pretty|compact
  • LOG_FILE=/var/log/app.log

A sensible default would be pretty colour output in a TTY and JSON otherwise. Explicit arguments to setup_logging() should override the environment.
