fix(theme-classic): show announcement bar on first load when id changes - #12836
Before React hydrations take place on subsequent page views, getAnnouncementBarInlineScript injects an inline script that sets the data-announcement-bar-initially-dismissed attribute on the root HTML element. CSS rules hide the announcement bar immediately when this attribute equals 'true'.
Previously, getAnnouncementBarInlineScript inspected only the dismissal key in localStorage. When site authors configured a new announcement bar with an updated id, the inline script evaluated dismiss === 'true' and hid the bar on initial page load. The new announcement only became visible after an additional page reload once React executed useEffect and reset the dismissed storage value.
This change passes announcementBar into getAnnouncementBarInlineScript and verifies whether the stored announcement bar ID matches the configured ID. If the ID differs, the script returns false, keeping the new announcement visible on first load.
Test Plan
Added unit tests in packages/docusaurus-theme-classic/src/__tests__/inlineScripts.test.ts:
Verified snapshot output with configured ID, custom site storage namespaces, and fallback cases without an announcement bar.
Verified script execution sets data-announcement-bar-initially-dismissed="false" when stored ID differs from configured ID.
Verified script execution sets data-announcement-bar-initially-dismissed="true" when stored ID matches and dismiss equals true.
Verified storage exceptions default to false.
Verified special character escaping for announcement IDs.
Validated tests, linting, formatting, and package compilation:
pnpm vitest run packages/docusaurus-theme-classic passed 75/75 tests.
Announcement bars with a different ID now appear even when a visitor previously dismissed another bar. This prevents an earlier dismissal from hiding a changed announcement.
Announcement bars without an ID continue to use the existing dismissal behavior, so their visibility is unaffected by this update.
When an announcement bar is dismissed, docusaurus stores both the dismissal flag and announcement id in localStorage.
Before React hydration, getAnnouncementBarInlineScript runs to set data-announcement-bar-initially-dismissed on the root HTML element.
Previously, this script evaluated only the dismissal flag, which kept newly configured announcements with a different id hidden on the first page load until a subsequent page reload.
Pass the configured announcementBar object into getAnnouncementBarInlineScript and compare the stored announcement id against the configured id before checking the dismissal flag.

Walkthrough
The announcement-bar inline script now receives the configured bar ID. When an ID is present, it checks the stored ID before determining the initial dismissed state. Tests cover configured and missing IDs, storage namespaces, escaped IDs, and storage-access errors.
The generated script treats the bar as not dismissed when the stored ID differs from the configured ID. The caller passes the announcement bar configuration. Tests cover dismissal values, storage namespaces, escaped IDs, and storage-access errors.

The announcement visibility change has one bounded edge case: an ID containing </script> breaks initial announcement and theme initialization. Escape the embedded ID; otherwise merge risk is low.

Explanation
The title names the main change: the announcement bar is shown on first load when its ID changes. The raw summary shows the inline script now compares the stored announcement-bar ID before the dismissal flag, which matches this. The title uses the conventional fix(scope) prefix and is concise. It is not vague and does not describe unrelated work.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #12646 is the only directly linked issue and it is open, so its coding requirements apply. The requirement is that the pre-hydration inline script treat the announcement bar as not dismissed when the stored docusaurus.announcement.id differs from the configured announcementBar.id. The change covers this. In packages/docusaurus-theme-classic/src/inlineScripts.ts, getAnnouncementBarInlineScript accepts an optional announcementBar.id. When an ID is given, the generated script compares the stored announcement ID with it before it reads the dismiss flag, and returns false on a mismatch. In packages/docusaurus-theme-classic/src/index.ts, injectHtmlTags passes announcementBar with siteStorage. The added tests in inlineScripts.test.ts execute the script and check that a differing stored ID yields data-announcement-bar-initially-dismissed="false", that a matching ID with dismiss=true yields "true", and that storage errors yield "false". The issue scope is the inline script's initial decision, and the change does not alter the React provider, which the issue states already handles the ID change after hydration. Limits of this assessment: no source inspection tool was available, so the verdict rests on the supplied summary and PR description. The ignored snapshot file (packages/docusaurus-theme-classic/src/tests/snapshots/inlineScripts.test.ts.snap) was not inspected. The stated requirement is verified by execution tests, not by snapshot text, so the verdict does not depend on that file. The behavior when no stored ID exists but dismiss is 'true' is not stated in the summary. The issue does not specify this case.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changes map to issue #12646. The inlineScripts.ts change adds the ID comparison that the issue requests. The index.ts change passes announcementBar into that function, which is required for the comparison. The inlineScripts.test.ts changes add tests for the new behavior, including the helper that executes the generated script, the mocked storage, namespaces, ID escaping, and storage errors. The ignored snapshot file is a test artifact for the generated script text and supports the same change. The summary reports no changes to exported declarations beyond the optional announcementBar parameter, and no unrelated files are listed. No out-of-scope change was identified. Evidence is the supplied summary and PR description, not direct diff inspection.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 3 files.

Escape < in the inlined announcement ID.
A configured id that contains </script> ends the enclosing <script> element early. The script body then has an unterminated string literal, so the whole body fails to parse. That also disables the theme and query-string scripts in the same element. Escape < in the JSON.stringify output.
