meteocool.com Settings API

Most application-specific configuration options can be changed using the Settings API. This is how the "native" meteocool iOS and Android applications communicate with the web view. After the web application has finished initialization, use window.settings.injectSettings({...}); to set multiple settings at once, or use window.settings.set("key", value); to set single settings values. All settings are applied reactively, i.e. no further action is needed for the setting to be applied. Settings are stored persistently in the browser's/webview's localStorage.

radarProduct

Which product the radar map draws its observed frames from. A string, "hx" by default.

Value Product
"hx" Lowest scan: DWD's HX over Germany, with each neighbouring network's lowest-scan composite around it.
"merged" EU composite: the lowest scans of all five networks, merged by meteocool on one grid.
"colmax" EU column max: the strongest echo at any height from every tilt of all five networks, merged by meteocool on one grid and evened out across them. One or two scans behind HX.
"dmax" DMAX: DWD's column maximum (strongest echo at any height) over Germany, with the networks' composites around it. A scan behind HX.

The choice holds on every observed step, playback included; forecast steps are always DWD's WN. A choice whose newest frame is unavailable, or too far behind the lowest scan (ten minutes, fifteen for "colmax"), is drawn as "hx" until it catches up. Any other value is read as "hx". The picker in the web app's bottom tray writes this same setting.

window.settings.set("radarProduct", "dmax");

It replaces layerEuropeComposite (a boolean), which is no longer read: a stored true is carried over once as "merged".
