Summary

The tray Agent Sessions list used to be one flat list of sessions. Sessions from several SSH hosts ran together, and a host that could not be reached showed only in a separate error area, so it was not clear which sessions belonged to which machine.

This change groups the list by host:

  • Each host gets a header row: <host> — <session count> (for example WORKSTATION-A — 2). Its sessions sit under the header, in the order the backend returned them.
  • A host that could not be reached gets its own row, <host> — unreachable (localized), with the backend error text under it, in the error color. It no longer appears as a loose error at the bottom.
  • A reachable host with no sessions still shows its header with — 0, so the list shows which hosts were checked.
  • A top-level error (for example from the focus or refresh path) is still shown at the end of the list.
  • The empty-state line and the disabled state are unchanged.

Files changed:

  • apps/desktop-tauri/src/components/AgentSessions.tsx: renders one group per host from the existing hosts data; the flat list and hostErrors are removed.
  • apps/desktop-tauri/src/components/AgentSessions.test.tsx: three new tests (below).
  • apps/desktop-tauri/src/styles/parity-overrides.css: .agent-sessions__host, .agent-sessions__host-header, and .agent-sessions__host-header--unreachable.
  • New locale key AgentSessionsHostUnreachable: rust/src/locale.rs (locale_keys! list), apps/desktop-tauri/src/i18n/keyGroups/core.ts, and all 10 rust/src/locale/*.ftl files (en-US "unreachable", es-MX "inaccesible", pt-BR "inacessível", ru-RU "недоступен", zh-CN "无法连接", zh-TW "無法連線", uk-UA "недоступний", tr-TR "ulaşılamıyor", ko-KR "연결할 수 없음", ja-JP "接続できません").
  • Proof: apps/desktop-tauri/src/proof/fixtures/scenarios.ts (new agent-sessions-hosts fixture with synthetic hosts WORKSTATION-A, BUILD-BOX, LAB-HOST), apps/desktop-tauri/src/proof/router.ts (list_agent_sessions returns the fixture), and apps/desktop-tauri/scripts/proof-scenarios.json (new scenario tray-agent-sessions-hosts).

Commit: 377552aed ("Group agent sessions under a header for each host").

Checks

  • cargo fmt --all: run; no changes beyond this branch's files.
  • cargo test --manifest-path rust/Cargo.toml locale: 26 passed, 0 failed (includes the locale parity test).
  • cargo test --manifest-path rust/Cargo.toml: 5279 passed, 0 failed, 2 ignored (after cargo build --example fake_grok_acp).
  • cargo clippy --manifest-path rust/Cargo.toml --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean.
  • cargo clippy --manifest-path apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/Cargo.toml --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean. Tauri source is not changed, so the Tauri test suite was not re-run.
  • Frontend focused: AgentSessions.test.tsx and the i18n key tests: 7 passed.
  • Frontend full: pnpm test -- --maxWorkers=4: 164 files, 1621 tests passed, 0 failed.
  • pnpm run build: passed (pre-existing chunk-size warning).
  • pnpm proof:check: 46/46 scenarios passed (Chromium, mocked IPC), including the new tray-agent-sessions-hosts.

New tests

  • groups sessions under one header per host with its session count: DESKTOP — 2 and LAPTOP — 1, header order matches host order, and each session sits after its own header.
  • shows an unreachable host as its own row with the error: BUILD-BOX shows the unreachable label and its error text (with the error class), and there is no BUILD-BOX — 0.
  • keeps a reachable host with no sessions visible as a zero-count header: IDLE-BOX — 0, with the empty-state line.

Proof

  • Browser proof, Chromium with mocked IPC: tray-agent-sessions-hosts checks the headers WORKSTATION-A — 2, BUILD-BOX — 1, LAB-HOST — unreachable, the error text ssh: connection timed out, and the session name example-project. It also checks that LAB-HOST — 0 is absent. The screenshot was viewed and the layout looks right: one header per host and the unreachable row in the error color.
  • Screenshot: apps/desktop-tauri/.proof/screens/tray-agent-sessions-hosts.png in the worktree (not committed).
  • The rule for tray changes is a CUA desktop check. This change is webview content inside the tray panel, so the browser proof is the proof here. A real desktop check is still listed under Not done.

Not done

  • No real SSH discovery was exercised. The data is a synthetic fixture (list_agent_sessions in the mock). The backend discovery code is not changed.
  • Desktop proof on the real tray panel is still needed: enable Agent Sessions, use at least two real or test SSH hosts (one unreachable), open the tray panel, and check the headers and counts. CUA should capture the real pixels.
  • The header order follows the backend host order. Sorting by name or by count was not added.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Agent sessions are now grouped by host, with each host showing its session count and sessions remaining individually accessible.
    • Unreachable hosts are clearly labeled, with connection errors displayed beneath the relevant host. Reachable hosts without sessions retain a zero-count header and an empty-state message.
    • Host status labels are available in multiple languages.

📝 Walkthrough

Agent sessions now render in host groups, with per-host session counts and unreachable-host status. A proof scenario supplies reachable and unreachable hosts, and the router returns that data to the UI. Locale entries, styles, tests, and a proof screenshot scenario cover the updated display.

Changes: Agent session host grouping

Layer / File(s) Summary
Proof scenario data and routing
apps/desktop-tauri/src/proof/fixtures/scenarios.ts, apps/desktop-tauri/src/proof/router.ts
The proof scenario type accepts agent-session discovery data. A new scenario supplies sessions for two reachable hosts and a timeout error for an unreachable host. The router returns scenario data when present and otherwise retains the disabled status.
Host-grouped session rendering
apps/desktop-tauri/src/components/AgentSessions.tsx, apps/desktop-tauri/src/components/AgentSessions.test.tsx, apps/desktop-tauri/src/i18n/keyGroups/core.ts, apps/desktop-tauri/src/styles/parity-overrides.css, rust/src/locale.rs, rust/src/locale/*.ftl
The UI groups sessions under host headers and displays each host’s count or unreachable status. Host-specific errors appear with their host; the discovery error appears once. Tests cover ordering, error rows, and reachable hosts with no sessions. Locale entries and styles support the new display.
Proof scenario validation
apps/desktop-tauri/scripts/proof-scenarios.json
The proof scenario checks host and session text, the timeout and project text, absence of a zero-count header for the unreachable host, and captures a panel screenshot.

Full details: Provider Data Stays Siloed

Explanation

The changed code only groups agent-session records by host and renders each session's existing provider label within the Agent Sessions UI. The proof fixture uses synthetic sessions for Codex and Claude; it does not copy provider identity, plan, account, or email into another provider's UI, payload, or storage. No new cross-provider branching was added outside provider-specific Rust directories or the provider factory.

Full details: Secrets Handled Safely

Explanation

The change adds only host grouping, synthetic proof data, tests, styling, and locale keys. The added fixture contains no credentials. Production host errors are passed through the existing safe_error_message redactor before reaching the bridge, and the UI only moves the existing host-error display under its host header. No new logging, credential handling, or credential-file/keyring changes are present.

Full details: No Unapproved Dependencies

Explanation

The pull request changes no Cargo.toml, package.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock, or npm lockfile. The patch also contains no dependency, packageManager, or pinned pnpm version changes. The no-unapproved-dependencies condition is not triggered.

Full details: Ui Changes Include Windows Proof

Explanation

The PR changes visible UI in AgentSessions.tsx and parity-overrides.css. The available description documents Chromium mocked-IPC proof and a screenshot review, but it does not show an attached screenshot or a fresh Windows-build proof. The description is explicitly truncated, so omitted text could contain the required evidence.

Resolution

Provide the complete PR description or inspect its attachments. Confirm that it includes screenshots or a proof note from a fresh Windows build.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Give focus_agent_session a real proof handler.

The agent-sessions-hosts scenario renders a clickable row for each session. Each click calls focus_agent_session. INERT_ACTIONS lists that command, and its doc comment says inert actions return null. The focus callback in AgentSessions.tsx then reads focusResult.status with no null guard. The resulting TypeError is thrown inside the .then callback. The promise is discarded with void, so the rejection is never handled, and the proof scenario never reaches the focus result it depends on.

The INERT_ACTIONS doc comment says to give an inert command a real handler when a scenario needs its result. This scenario needs it. Replace the "focus_agent_session" entry in INERT_ACTIONS with a handler in the proof router that returns a SessionFocusResult whose status is "focused". coverage.test.ts also fails when a command is both handled and inert, so the entry must be removed from INERT_ACTIONS.

@coderabbitai Fixed in e5a4ced: focus_agent_session is no longer in INERT_ACTIONS. The proof router now handles it and returns { status: "focused" } (SessionFocusResult), so AgentSessions.tsx always gets a defined result in the browser proof. tsc, the proof vitest suites, and proof:check --only agent-sessions-hosts pass.

## Architecture and data flow
[docs/ARCHITECTURE.md](docs/ARCHITECTURE.md) has the full picture. The rules that matter on every change:

- **Proof harness.** `CODEXBAR_PROOF_MODE` (for example `settings:menu`) opens one surface and turns off blur-dismiss for automation. `CODEXBAR_SEED_USAGE_JSON=<abs-path>` seeds synthetic bridge-shaped `ProviderUsageSnapshot` data into the provider cache at launch, pinned against refresh eviction. A malformed seed file logs a warning and is skipped. See [docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md](docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md#proof-mode).

### UI validation with CUA ([trycua/cua](https://github.com/trycua/cua))
[docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md](docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md) has the cua-driver install command (driver usually at `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Cua\cua-driver\bin\cua-driver.exe`), the CDP target URLs, the cua-driver session rules and the post-install checklist.

AGENTS.md: # Repository Guidelines
## Testing & QA
### Browser proof (`pnpm proof:check`)
The React surfaces also run in a plain browser over mocked IPC (`apps/desktop-tauri/proof.html`, fixtures in `src/proof/`). `pnpm proof:check`, run from `apps/desktop-tauri`, drives Chrome, Edge or Chromium over CDP through `scripts/proof-scenarios.json`. It prints PASS or FAIL for each scenario and saves screenshots. It runs on any OS, so subagents and CI can use it without a Windows desktop. Details: `docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md` section 5.

### Seed usage data

A file the app can't read or parse logs a warning, and the app starts without the seed. A normal refresh doesn't replace seeded data while the cache holds every provider the refresh asks for. A forced refresh, such as **Refresh All**, fetches live data.
