Ports upstream CodexBar 7d12e4325 (feat(pace): show a daily target for monthly allowances, steipete#4692) to the Windows port.

Summary

  • A monthly allowance now shows a per-day target: the remaining allowance divided by the local calendar days left, counting today and any partial reset day. The target is in the allowance's own unit.
  • Units: % for percent-only monthly windows, credits and requests for windows that report an absolute allowance. Other units show no target.
  • The target never estimates today's consumption. Unknown usage, an informational window, a regenerating window, a missing reset, or a reset that is not after now shows no target. An exhausted allowance shows a target of zero.
  • The target sits on the pace line (meta text), joined with " · ". It follows the existing pace setting: it is hidden when pace is off, and hidden on compact rows, as pace text is.
  • Non-authoritative pace providers get no target, because the target is carried on the pace snapshot.
  • Notion's rolling and billing windows and FutureAGI's allowance windows now report their limit and unit (credits or requests), so their monthly windows get a target.
  • en-US copy: "≈ X / day to last until reset" (with "credits" or "requests" in place of the unit, or "%" after the number). Translated into the other nine locales with the same placeholders.

Behavior by layer

  • Core (rust/src/core): RateWindow gains optional quota_limit and quota_unit, serialized only when set. UsagePace::daily_target and daily_target_in implement the day count (DST-safe, uses the local calendar). ProviderPaceCapability::monthly_daily_target decides eligibility and computes the target.
  • Bridge (apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/src/commands/bridge/pace.rs): WindowPaceSnapshot gains dailyTarget: { amount, unit }, filled in for_lane (live lanes) and for_window (proof seeds). It is absent when not eligible.
  • Frontend (metricRowModel.ts): formats the target per unit with Intl.NumberFormat (percent one decimal, credits and requests two decimals) and appends it to the meta line.
  • Locale: three keys (PaceDailyTargetPercent, PaceDailyTargetCredits, PaceDailyTargetRequests) in en-US and the nine other .ftl files, plus keyGroups/core.ts.

Not in this PR

  • Spend-only monthly targets (upstream claude-extra-usage and monthlyCostTarget, with currency units) are not ported. Only percent, credits and requests have a target.
  • Proof seeds (CODEXBAR_SEED_USAGE_JSON) do not rebuild quota fields from the seed JSON. A seed gets a target only through an explicit pace.dailyTarget.
  • Docs under docs/ (ui.md, plugins.md, notion.md, futureagi.md) are not updated. CHANGELOG has an entry.
  • No browser proof scenario (pnpm proof:check) and no CUA desktop proof were run for this change. See the suggested proof below.

Checks

Run in the worktree on this branch (Windows, CARGO_BUILD_JOBS=6, BelowNormal priority):

  • cargo fmt --all: clean.
  • cargo clippy --manifest-path rust/Cargo.toml --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean.
  • cargo clippy --manifest-path apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/Cargo.toml --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean.
  • cargo test --manifest-path rust/Cargo.toml: 5293 passed, 0 failed, 2 ignored (lib); 1 passed (integration).
  • Focused: core::pace_capability 22 passed; providers::notion and providers::futureagi 24 passed; locale 26 passed (includes the placeholder-parity test across all ten locales).
  • cargo test --manifest-path apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/Cargo.toml: 807 passed, 0 failed. Includes the new commands::bridge::pace tests.
  • pnpm test -- --maxWorkers=4 (apps/desktop-tauri): 164 files, 1621 tests passed. metricRowModel.test.ts covers credit, percent, request and unknown units, pace-off and compact hiding, and the no-target case.
  • pnpm run build: passes (locale key check: 1861 keys match between Rust and TS; tsc --noEmit and vite build).

Suggested desktop proof (synthetic data)

Not run yet. Use fake data only (no real provider responses).

  1. Build a fresh desktop binary (pnpm --dir apps/desktop-tauri run tauri:build:debug).
  2. Write a seed file with one bridge-shaped snapshot. Set resetsAt to a time about 10 days after the launch time, and use an example.com identity:
{
  "providerId": "notion",
  "displayName": "Notion",
  "primary": {
    "usedPercent": 79,
    "remainingPercent": 21,
    "windowMinutes": 43200,
    "resetsAt": "<ISO 8601 about 10 days from now>",
    "pace": {
      "stage": "on_track",
      "deltaPercent": 0,
      "expectedUsedPercent": 50,
      "actualUsedPercent": 50,
      "willLastToReset": true,
      "dailyTarget": { "amount": 21.09, "unit": "credits" }
    }
  }
}
  1. Launch with CODEXBAR_SEED_USAGE_JSON=<abs path> and CODEXBAR_PROOF_MODE=settings:menu (or the flyout), with pace shown. Expect the card's meta line to contain ≈ 21.09 credits / day to last until reset.
  2. Turn off pace in Settings and confirm the line disappears. Then compare with the compact card, where it is hidden.
  3. Attach before and after screenshots and the output of the checks above.

The seed is pinned per provider (see docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md). Remove the seed file with the trash helper, not by hand.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Monthly allowance pacing estimates how much of your remaining allowance to use per local calendar day, including today, to last until reset. Estimates are shown as a percentage, credits, or requests.
    • Daily targets appear alongside pace when pacing is enabled and usage and reset details are available. Estimates are omitted when the required information is unavailable.
    • Notion and FutureAGI allowances now include limits for more informative pacing.
  • Localization

    • Added daily-target labels in English and supported international languages.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds monthly allowance pacing. It calculates a daily target from the remaining allowance and local calendar days until reset, carries the target through the desktop bridge, and displays localized pace metadata. Notion and FutureAGI rate windows now report quota limits and units.

Changes: Monthly Daily Allowance Targets

Layer / File(s) Summary
Quota data contract and provider reporting
rust/src/core/rate_window.rs, rust/src/providers/{notion,futureagi}/..., rust/src/providers/copilot/api.rs
RateWindow now stores optional quota limits and units. Notion and FutureAGI populate quota data; Copilot windows initialize these fields as absent.
Local-calendar daily target calculation
rust/src/core/usage_pace.rs, rust/src/core/pace_capability.rs
UsagePace calculates a per-day amount through reset using local calendar days. ProviderPaceCapability returns targets only for eligible monthly windows with supported usage and quota data.
Bridge target propagation and proof data
apps/desktop-tauri/src/types/bridge/usage.ts, apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/src/commands/bridge/..., apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/src/proof_harness.rs, apps/desktop-tauri/src/proof/fixtures/scenarios.ts
The bridge adds an optional daily target and populates it for eligible lanes. The proof harness can fill a missing target while preserving existing pace data.
Localized pace display and validation
apps/desktop-tauri/src/lib/metricRowModel..., apps/desktop-tauri/src/i18n/keyGroups/core.ts, rust/src/locale..., apps/desktop-tauri/scripts/proof-scenarios.json, CHANGELOG.md
Pace metadata displays supported daily targets when pacing is enabled and the row is non-compact. Locale entries, display tests, and a proof scenario cover the target display.

Full details: Provider Data Stays Siloed

Explanation

The change does not introduce provider identity crossover. The new shared bridge and frontend data contain only daily-target amount and unit. Notion and FutureAGI quota fields are populated in their own provider modules. The shared daily-target path passes ProviderId to the existing capability dispatch and adds no new match on specific ProviderId values. The proof fixture uses synthetic Copilot data only.

Full details: Secrets Handled Safely

Explanation

The PR adds only allowance metadata, daily-target calculations, UI strings, and synthetic test/proof data. The authoritative diff contains no token, cookie, API key, OAuth credential, authorization header, credential-store operation, logging sink, or error propagation involving secrets. It does not modify credential or keyring files.

Full details: No Unapproved Dependencies

Explanation

The pull request changes no Cargo.toml, package.json, npm/yarn lockfile, or pnpm packageManager pin. The authoritative diff contains only source, locale, changelog, and proof files. Maintainer approval is not required.

Full details: Ui Changes Include Windows Proof

Explanation

The PR changes visible UI. metricRowModel.ts adds the daily-target text to the user-visible metadata line, and locale keys support that text. The PR description reports a mocked-IPC Chromium proof and says browser proof and CUA desktop proof were not run; it does not include screenshots or a proof note from a fresh Windows build. The proof scenario in the diff is test code, not Windows-build evidence.

Resolution

Add screenshots or a PR-description proof note from a fresh Windows build. Include the visible result, such as ≈ 2.9% / day to last until reset. Use the fresh-build proof to verify the Windows UI.

@coderabbitai Thanks. All five findings are fixed in fe3984e:

  1. Daily target tied to pace (pace.rs): the daily target no longer lives on WindowPaceSnapshot. It is now RateWindowSnapshot.dailyTarget, computed by pace::daily_target whenever pace is visible for the provider, matching upstream monthlyTargetMetrics. An exhausted monthly allowance keeps a zero target even though it has no pace (new test exhausted_monthly_allowance_keeps_a_zero_daily_target_without_pace). The proof harness fills it independently too, and the frontend reads snap.dailyTarget, with a new no-pace test.
  2. Proof coverage (metricRowModel.ts): new mocked-IPC scenario copilot-daily-target (monthly window, no pace) and browser proof flyout-copilot-daily-target asserting "≈ 2.9% / day to last until reset". PASS (Chromium, mocked IPC).
  3. tr-TR: PaceDailyTargetPercent now puts the percent sign first (%{ "{}" }).
  4. zh-CN: 点数 → 额度.
  5. zh-TW: 點數 → 額度.

Checks: cargo fmt, cargo test (both manifests), clippy -D warnings (both manifests), tsc, vitest (1630 passed), pnpm proof:check -- --only flyout-copilot-daily-target.

## Code conventions
- **New provider:** (1) a `ProviderId` variant with its metadata methods (`cli_name`, `display_name`, ...), (2) a provider module that implements `Provider`, (3) a match arm in `instantiate` and in `pace_capability` in `core/provider_factory.rs`. Both matches are exhaustive, so a missing arm doesn't compile. Never add a second factory in the shell or the CLI. See [docs/PROVIDERS.md](docs/PROVIDERS.md#add-a-provider).

## Usage windows

Automatic ranks its candidate windows by depletion risk (`usage_metric.rs`, upstream #4491): an exhausted window first, then a window whose current pace runs out before its reset (the soonest first), then the highest used percentage. Equal ranks keep the earlier lane. The forecast needs authoritative pace (estimates never forecast), a window with its own length and reset, and at least 3% expected use, so a fresh window doesn't win on a noisy rate. The highest-usage tray icon ranks each provider's selected metric the same way; the forecast counts only when that provider's metric is Automatic. `Provider::automatic_metric_follows_lane_order()` opts out of the ranking for ordered tiers: the first exhausted core lane wins, otherwise the first reported lane. Gemini (Pro before Flash) and Kiro (plan credits before bonus credits) return `true`.

A file the app can't read or parse logs a warning, and the app starts without the seed. A normal refresh doesn't replace seeded data while the cache holds every provider the refresh asks for. A forced refresh, such as **Refresh All**, fetches live data.

The React surfaces also run in a plain browser over mocked IPC (`apps/desktop-tauri/proof.html`, fixtures in `src/proof/`). `pnpm proof:check`, run from `apps/desktop-tauri`, drives Chrome, Edge or Chromium over CDP through `scripts/proof-scenarios.json`. It prints PASS or FAIL for each scenario and saves screenshots. It runs on any OS, so subagents and CI can use it without a Windows desktop. Details: `docs/WINDOWS_PROOF.md` section 5.

# Proving UI changes on Windows

## 5. Mocked-IPC proof build

Every command the frontend invokes either has a fixture handler or is listed
in `INERT_ACTIONS` (`src/proof/router.ts`): user actions such as sign-ins,
credential writes, and OS side effects that return `null`.
`src/proof/coverage.test.ts` fails when a new `invoke("...")` has neither, so
the mocks cannot drift silently. An unknown command still returns `null` and
logs `[proof-mock] unhandled command: <name>` once. Window, webview, dialog,
and event plugin calls are inert.

@coderabbitai Fixed in 2d13a4c: fill_window_pace now carries reset_regenerates onto the rebuilt RateWindow, so monthly_daily_target skips regenerating seeds (and pace sees the same window). New test seed_daily_target_skips_regenerating_windows. Tauri tests (811) and clippy -D warnings pass.

rust/src/core/pace_capability.rs:206-210
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Clamp exhausted Copilot remaining allowance to zero before the daily target.

Over-quota Copilot allowances get no daily target. An exhausted allowance at exactly 100% used gets a zero target. The stated contract requires a zero target for exhausted allowances.

monthly_daily_target multiplies the limit by window.remaining_percent(). An over-quota Copilot window has a negative remaining value. daily_target_in returns None for any negative remainder, so the lane shows no target.

Suggested fix
-        let remaining = limit * window.remaining_percent() / 100.0;
+        let remaining = (limit * window.remaining_percent() / 100.0).max(0.0);

Gate seed enrichment on pace_authoritative.

pace_authoritative belongs to ProviderUsageSnapshot, not RateWindowSnapshot. A valid proof seed with paceAuthoritative: false still reaches fill_seed_pace, which calls fill_window_pace. That function computes daily_target without an authority check. The proof row can then expose a target that the live bridge omits for non-authoritative providers.

Add the authority gate before enriching the seed windows.

@coderabbitai Fixed in 98971be (outside-diff finding, pace_capability.rs:206): monthly_daily_target now floors the remaining percent at zero, matching upstream RateWindow.remainingPercent (max(0, 100 - usedPercent)), so an over-quota allowance gets a zero target instead of none. New test over_quota_monthly_window_targets_zero covers 100% and 125% used. Rust lib (5352) and Tauri (811) tests and clippy -D warnings on both manifests pass.
