Train 34: Rust --lego external parents (FC2), honest lexical --whereis labels and --grep pattern hints (honest-lex), Python import-precise by-name hedges (IND4b), a backward hop step for --path / --impact (HOP1), JS/TS written bindings (FC3), MCP bookkeeping folds (lean2b), and an ARCHITECTURE section for the seeds → hops → walks layers.
What changes for answers
--lego external parents (FC2): a class is no longer listed as an implementor of an in-tree type when its own file imports that base from outside the tree (Python, JS/TS, Rust use, Java/Kotlin imports of a package the tree does not declare). Star imports, imports the tree cannot place, and the tree's own package name keep the by-name row. For Rust, a use head is decided outside only on proof (crate/self/super and same-crate modules are in-tree).
--whereis lexical labels (honest-lex): on the lexical fallback a declaration word must sit directly before the name. Comment, prose and string lines no longer read kind="def" (241 false definition rows over 30 cells on this repo, hono and tmux).
--grep pattern hints (honest-lex): a literal pattern with regex-shaped pieces (a|b, \., .*, ^/$, a […] class) carries pattern_meta= and next=--regex=…. A line holding the pattern twice is one <hit … occ="N"> row.
By-name hedges need an import (IND4b): a <near_sink why="name"> or <bridge via="namesake"> to a free namesake now needs the caller's file to be, or to import, the namesake's file. An override is a way in. Python names rebound after their definition are withheld.
Backward hop step (HOP1): --path's hedged bridge and --impact's hedged ring read the slot rows (via="slot", slot_callers=, slot_fns=) and declined-call rows that --callers already prints, from one provider (src/backhops.h). A declined call on a typed in-tree receiver is no longer skipped as the builtin method its name spells (hono's this.router.match).
JS/TS written bindings (FC3): a bare call through a name written after its declaration is unresolved=, never the declared class. A member call through such a root keeps only the by-name hedge.
MCP folds (lean2b): MCP quality_delta folds stale acks into stale_by_kind / stale_next (show_stale=true returns the full document), and edit_check answers an unchanged contract with rows_next=, matching the CLI. tools/list is 47,411 B against the unchanged 47,420 B ceiling.
Docs: docs/ARCHITECTURE.md gains a seeds → hops → walks section (seed resolvers, hop providers with one certainty label per edge, walk policies), with a CONTRIBUTING map line. It credits @llvm-x86 for the diff-hunk producer (#423).
Train commits: b039530 (FC2's Rust check folded into its LangFacts column, so the language-identity ratchet stays at 335), e98a53c (the ratchet runner now reads occ= rows; honest-lex's new row shape had made it skip lines silently), b58af84 (versions + qschemetrip re-pin), 3390863 (legendcoverage (S) arm + falseedgecheck floor header), 0b53bae (ARCHITECTURE section), c97f6f9 (counts / printf_parity / versions regen), 1fa0886 (showcase + COMMANDS capture regen), cb627d6 (appendAuxFileHits split out of scanUnsupportedFiles, quality-delta 0).
Versions: kParserVer 224 → 226 (rich file tag 227), mirror 226, strictly above every live value. kCacheVersion 39 → 40, because FC3 appends LocalBindKind::JsRebind. qschemetrip re-derived once with a RE-PIN LOG entry.
CR pre-pass (CR_LENS probes + one Sonnet pass over the conflict-resolved and train hunks): 2cd212e — FC2 × L6: an undecided Rust base clause (rustBaseUndecided) now opens the implementor list as L6's other drop paths do, so --callees/--callers no longer print a confident via="impl" to the one remaining implementor while --lego says implementors_floor=1 (ifacedispatchcheck arms k_rs_undecided_use / k_rs_undecided_floor / k_rs_decided_outside, red on cb627d6); 8de5fa5 — honest-lex: a UTF-8 byte is a word byte in pattern_meta, so --grep='café|tea' is flagged and né[i-1] is not read as a bracket class (honestlexcheck B35/B36, red first). Both answer-changing, both narrow.
Checks at the head (plain dev builds): a 41-gate head sweep with 0 real reds, including the 13 full-suite-only gates. ASan, including pathgapcheck, reported nothing. The fallback emitter keeps byte parity. quality-delta vs main is gating 0 overall and per lane. Composed rechecks match each resolver lane's own head: IND4b's 15 changed answers are kept; FC3's 6-repo census is byte-identical; FC2's census shows its 9 removals plus 3 more correct ones (std / httpx parents); HOP1 gets 8 of 9 Stage-0 rows and 12 gold hops; IMPACT-SLOT gives 235 of 235 identical answers. workflow_dispatch CI 40122772401 on cb627d6 is green; the two pre-pass commits were gated locally (plain + ASan on the touched gates), and this PR's CI covers the head.
…b), override dispatch admits (2c)
A by-name hedge (near_sink why=name, a bridge's namesake crossing) to a FILE-OWNED namesake (a free definition,
or a JS/TS method: no class scope) is now admitted only when the caller's file is or imports the namesake's
file (precise import adjacency; C/C++/ObjC transitive #include). Owner reach no longer admits one: the IND4
Stage-0 hand-check rejected both such shown sites (koa accessor, nunjucks this.init).
A CLASS-OWNED namesake is also admitted by override dispatch: its class derives, by name and transitively
(resolve.h derivesFromName over buildGraph's chaUp, now kept on Graph), from the bound definition's class, and
its file imports that class's file (any depth; FE-A's Python directive files count for src/ layouts). The
import condition keeps an external same-named parent (ext.Base, from ext import Base) out.
One helper (NamesakeOwnerReach::admits) serves both hedges. Gates K6-K12 in test/pathgapcheck.sh.

…o its base shape
quality-delta gated the grown NamesakeOwnerReach (constructor contract change, class verbosity) and a
re-written last-segment helper; NamesakeRule composes the unchanged owner set and reuses namesplit::afterLast.

…or of an in-tree namesake
`implementors` was keyed by the base NAME: `class Sub(ext.Base)`, `from ext import Base; class Sub(Base)`,
`import { Base } from 'lib'`, `use ext::Base; impl Base for S` and `import org.ext.Base;` were all listed as
implementors of an unrelated in-tree `Base`. buildGraph now asks baseBoundOutsideTree first: when the file's
own import evidence binds the written base (bare name, or its qualifier root) outside the tree, the clause
draws no edge. The evidence is the tables the resolver already builds (the Phase-5 import verdict, the JS
import tables and qualifier verdicts, FE-A rustOutsideUse, the JVM declared-package table); which one a
language reads is a LangFacts column (baseImportEvidence). An undecided binding (a star or wildcard import,
an unplaceable import, a same-file declaration) keeps its by-name edge.
Not decided (edge kept): C++ `ext::Base` / `using ext::Base`, C# `using`, Swift `import`, PHP `use`, a JS
CommonJS `require` destructure, a Rust `impl ext::Base for S` with no `use`.
Gate: test/legotransitivecheck.sh (XP), corpus test/legotransitivefix/xp; red on 27eddee (11 arms).

…ackage
The census found two over-drops of the first cut, both real implementors: nushell's `use nu_glob::Interruptible`
(a workspace crate whose directory is crates/nu-glob — FE-A's outside-use table reads `nu_glob` as outside) and
commander's examples' `import { Command } from 'commander'` (Node self-reference to the tree's own package).
The base reader now builds its own crate-dir-aware outside-use table (rustOutsideUses, shared code with FE-A,
whose table and call edges are unchanged) and keeps any import of a package name an in-tree package.json
declares. Arms: XpWsBase / XpSelfBase in legotransitivecheck (XP).

…self-package, root-package Python, no floor for a decided clause
A crate's own Cargo package/[lib] name (tests/, examples/, main.rs) and a workspace
crate named differently from its directory are in the tree; jsSelfPackageImports
reads through diskPath (multi-root); a Python repo whose root is the package keeps
its self-import rows; a clause dropped for a decided outside binding adds no
implementors_floor.

…edges), not a name graph plus file reach
Override dispatch now walks Graph::implementors down from the bound definition's class over
BaseBound::Proven edges only (buildGraph's provenBasesOf: a same-file declaration, the file the
deriving file's import of THAT name resolves to, incl. package re-exports and the src/ suffix match).
A same-named in-tree Base elsewhere, an external parent whose file reaches the bound file
(transitively or directly), and an unrelated class are withheld. Graph::chaUp and pyImportFiles
are dropped (no longer read). pathgapcheck K13/K13b (5 withheld shapes, near_sink + bridge) and
K14/K14b (package re-export, shown). Legend and CHANGELOG say the per-file binding.

…ng `::`, crate aliases
A Rust `use` head is in the tree when it is a Cargo dependency KEY naming a crate of the tree (`core2 = { package = "foo-core",
path = ".." }`, a `[dependencies.core2]` table, a dotted key), when the path leads with `::`, or when the file aliases an in-tree
crate with `extern crate foo_core as fc;` / `use foo_core as fc;`. An alias inside a brace group keeps the file's rows. The
Python root-package keep reads only Python files. CHANGELOG names the single-root Python keep and the spellings still unread;
cppqualcheck pins --uses=readWholeFile at 35 (three new call sites, same helper).

…ding (rule 2c)
pythonImportedBases ignored a module-level rebinding after the import
(Base = Other, Base: type = Other, a tuple target), so class Sub(Base)
was bound to the imported class and its override shown as a way in.
It now reads pythonModuleRebind first: a rebound name gets no binding,
so the namesake is withheld. A rebinding inside a function body is not
in that table, so the override stays shown. Arms K13 assign/annot/tuple

…all (T1 class 14)
`let { Eng, Foo } = require( '../src/eng' ); Eng = Foo; new Eng()` builds a Foo, but the call binder
listed it as a caller of Eng: it never noticed the binding was written. Ingest now records a
LocalBindKind::JsRebind per written binding (ingest_jsimports.h captureJsRebindFacts): the write resolves
to the innermost declaration of the name (jsDeclarationOf / jsHoistedDeclScope, the rule the import-shadow
walk already used, now shared), and the record spans that declaration's WHOLE scope, since byte order is
not run order (a closure, a loop body). buildGraph leaves a bare call or construction inside the span
unresolved (no edge); FalseEdgeRules reads the span as a shadow (no external veto).
Writes covered: `=`, destructuring (`[Eng] = …`, `({ Eng } = { Eng: Foo })`), `+=`, `++`, `for ( Eng of … )`,
a second `var Eng = …`, conditional writes, writes in nested functions, undeclared globals. Not a
rebinding: a write that throws (an ES import, a `const`, a named class/function expression's own name)
and a write whose value keeps the name (`equal = util.equal`, `({ css } = getEnv())`), the
declare-then-assign test idiom whose by-name edges are right. Member calls (`reply.header()` beside a
written local `header`) are untouched.
Census (pin-census, base 320f8d8 vs head, 6 in-sample JS/TS repos): hono 50 edges removed, fastify 1,
nunjucks 295 (275 in vendored minified bower files), kysely/commander/koa 0; every non-minified one read
by hand was false (a placeholder `let f = () => {}` later reassigned, `Loader = require(…).FileSystemLoader`
bound to Loader, `equal = util.jinjaEqual` bound to equal). kParserVer 212 -> 218 (lane reservation
218/219; the train renumbers). test/falseedgecheck.sh arm (S), root jsrebind/.

…Cargo declares
A Rust use head is decided outside the tree only when it is std/core/alloc/proc_macro/test or a registry/git
dependency some Cargo.toml declares; every other head (crate-root extern crate alias, a [patch] rename, a path
dependency outside the indexed root, an unknown crate) is undecided: no row, implementors_floor, never a confident
implementors=0. Brace aliases are parsed per group, so use std::io::{Write as _} moves no other head of the file.

… is the name's one binding in the class statement's scope chain
Invert the rule instead of listing rebinding shapes: the name has exactly one binding in the
chain the class statement runs in (its own class body or function, the enclosing functions,
the module; an enclosing class body is skipped) and it is the import, and no star import
could bind it. Closes a star import after the import, a class-body rebinding with a class
nested in it, and a function-local rebinding with a class defined in the function.

…ch captures and type statements are bindings (rule 2c scope chain)
D1/D2: the file-wide import tables never decide for an import outside the class's scope chain (a qualified base withheld when another
scope imports the qualifier as a module; a bare base needs the member form). D3: every binding at byte 0 is module scope (global in a
def that starts the file). D4/N5: a match-statement capture and a PEP 695 type statement emit a VarDecl (kParserVer 224). K17/K18 arms.

…s; compact legend ties complete= to the literal reading
N2: grepPatternMeta stays quiet for `arr[i-1]` / `a[0][1]` (a `[` right after a word byte or `]`),
`^1.2.3` (^ before a digit), a bare trailing `user$` ($ counts only under a leading ^) and `[^1]`
(footnote label), so the literal answer keeps its --at / --offset next=. Unambiguous regex
(`a|b`, `.*` inside, escapes, `^word`, `^word$`, `[^h]`, `[0-9]`) keeps the meta.
N1: the compact grep legend and the pattern_meta dict entry say complete=/hits= speak of the
literal reading only.

… in the tree; only a module of the using file's own crate does
rustOutsideUses skipped a use head that was ANY .rs file stem or directory of the tree, and rustTreeCrate counted the same match as in-tree, so
a registry crate named like another member's directory (crates/foo_core beside `foo-core = "1"`) or an unrelated module of another member
(app/src/fc.rs beside `fc = { package = "foo-core", version = "1" }`) never reached the Cargo verdict and its implementors were listed with
no floor. The crate-aware reader now reads the modules per crate (the nearest Cargo.toml above a file): only a module of the using file's own
crate, crate/self/super or a Cargo name proven by a `path =` key puts a head in the tree; every other head goes through the Cargo verdict.
FE-A's plain table keeps the tree-wide module set. Six xp/rsmod* arms (M1 and M3 red at c604986, M2 T1 C5 L2 controls).

…when FE-A's plain table is non-empty
FE-A's plain table skips every head that is a module anywhere in the tree, so a tree whose every outside-looking head matches another
member's directory (a standalone M1: crates/foo_core beside a registry `foo-core = "1"`) had an empty plain table and the lego reader never
ran: no Cargo verdict, no floor. rustOutsideUses(crateDirAware) now always runs (it returns at once for a tree with no Rust). Standalone arms
for the six rsmod* fixtures; CHANGELOG sentence for the own-crate module rule.

The three layers every graph question is built from: seed resolvers (every printed

contributed by @llvm-x86 in #423), hop providers (one certainty label per edge:
proven / hedged / declined, with a width), and walk policies (depth, width bound,
hedged crossings, printed rows). The single-focus pick is resolveFocus's order
(code definition first, lowest id, a bodyless C/C++ declaration yields to its
same-scope body); the terminal scorer uses it as the tie-break.

The pre-pass fix 8de5fa5 put a second C-style cast on one line, so
--lint's c-style-cast count (627) fell one short of --match's ground
truth (628) and lintbudgetcheck failed on 6 CI legs of #435. The new
term is spelled static_cast<unsigned char>, as CONTRIBUTING asks for
new casts; the count and the ground truth agree again (627 = 627).

The arm's regex 'pattern_meta=".*"' read .* as a wildcard, so any pattern_meta value passed.

not_crossed() requires path() to have answered before it reads the bridge as absent, as B2-B4 already do:
a failed run or a mistyped symbol answers "" and passed the three arms.

Thanks for the review of 8de5fa5. Disposition of the 4 inline comments (the review body carried no nitpick or outside-diff lists):
test/honestlexcheck.sh B10 — fixed: the arm now matches the literal value with a fixed-string grep (7be3c12).
test/hop1check.sh B6-B8 — fixed: the negative arms require the path run to have answered before reading "no bridge" (daeda73).
src/editcheck.h MCP rows_next — not changed: MCP continuations in this tree (stale_next, rows_next) are call descriptions that do not repeat the standing path argument, and the CLI twin names no root either.
src/ingest_jsimports.h hoisted order — not changed: the map iterates in insertion order with no seed and no erase, so the recorded order is a function of the file's bytes alone; the model re-sorts it after load.

--legoexternal parents (FC2): a class is no longer listed as an implementor of an in-tree type when its own file imports that base from outside the tree (Python, JS/TS, Rustuse, Java/Kotlin imports of a package the tree does not declare). Star imports, imports the tree cannot place, and the tree's own package name keep the by-name row. For Rust, ausehead is decided outside only on proof (crate/self/super and same-crate modules are in-tree).--whereislexical labels (honest-lex): on the lexical fallback a declaration word must sit directly before the name.
