Summary

  • Upgrades direct dependency github.com/google/go-containerregistry from v0.20.4 to v0.22.1
  • As a result, transitive go.opentelemetry.io/otel (and otel/trace) go from v1.36.0 to v1.41.0, which resolves GHSA-mh2q-q3fh-2475 / CVE-2026-29181 (baggage header DoS amplification)
  • Transitive github.com/docker/cli goes from v28.1.1+incompatible to v29.7.2+incompatible, which resolves GHSA-p436-gjf2-799p / CVE-2025-15558 (Windows CLI plugin search path privilege escalation)
  • go mod tidy also brought in other minor upgrades: cobra 1.10.2, x/sync 0.22.0, x/sys 0.47.0, klauspost/compress 1.19.2, logrus 1.9.4, pflag 1.0.10. It removed unused indirect deps and added gotest.tools/v3 as an indirect dep. No replace directives.

…(COMP-2468)

go.opentelemetry.io/otel and github.com/docker/cli are transitive
dependencies pulled in via github.com/google/go-containerregistry.
Upgrading the direct parent from v0.20.4 to v0.22.1 raises them to
patched versions without replace directives:

- go.opentelemetry.io/otel v1.36.0 -> v1.41.0
  GHSA-mh2q-q3fh-2475 / CVE-2026-29181 (multi-value baggage header
  extraction causes excessive allocations, remote DoS amplification)
- github.com/docker/cli v28.1.1 -> v29.7.2
  GHSA-p436-gjf2-799p / CVE-2025-15558 (Windows CLI plugin search path
  local privilege escalation)
