The Show Symbolic Links toggle in Settings successfully excludes aliases that link to folders, but tries to parse aliases that lead directly to images an an image itself and does not exclude them from the Location or searches. It gets stuck trying to generate thumbnails and previews of the image and fails. If this is desired behavior, then there should be an additional option to hide these alias files.
