Summary

Adds a canonical What is Durable Execution? page at /durable-execution and makes it the single target for the concept.

The page defines Durable Execution and scopes what it covers using three categories:

  • Transient failures (crashes, Worker restarts, network outages, timeouts, temporary dependency outages, including intermittent ones such as rate limits). Durable Execution keeps trying until the operation succeeds, and the Retry Policy controls how often.
  • Permanent failures (bad data, bugs, a dependency that is gone for good). Durable Execution can't fix these, but it preserves state and progress so the operation resumes after someone intervenes. The page maps each kind to the Temporal mechanism that handles it: Workflow Task retries, non-retryable failures plus Signals or Updates, Pause, and Reset.
  • Negative results (out of stock, insufficient funds, no driver available). These aren't failures, and the developer's code decides how to handle them.

Until now the docs had no page devoted to Durable Execution. The glossary and /temporal shared one definition that didn't say which failures it covered, and none of the entry pages distinguished transient from permanent failures.

Changes

  • New page: docs/encyclopedia/durable-execution.mdx. Added to the sidebar after Temporal and to the Encyclopedia index.
  • vercel.json:
    • Removed the /durable-execution → /temporal#durable-execution redirect, since the URL now serves the page.
    • Retargeted /encyclopedia/durable-execution to /durable-execution.
  • /temporal: the Durable Execution section is now a short summary that links to the new page. The #durable-execution anchor is kept, so existing inbound links still resolve.
  • Glossary entry rewritten and linked to the new page.
  • Repointed links to /durable-execution on seven integration pages and in Error handling best practices.

Stack

This is the base of a stack:

Verification

  • yarn build, yarn check:redirects, and yarn check-links were run on the combined stack. They found no new broken links or invalid redirects.
  • vale --config .vale-ci.ini is clean on all touched files.

Add docs/encyclopedia/durable-execution.mdx at /durable-execution with
the canonical definition and the three result categories: transient
failures, permanent failures, and negative results.

- Replace the /durable-execution redirect with the page, and retarget
  /encyclopedia/durable-execution to it
- Shorten the Durable Execution section on /temporal to a summary that
links to the new page, keeping the anchor
- Update the glossary entry and repoint inbound links
