Adds an ISPDB entry for freenet Mail (freenet.de), a large German freemail provider that is not in the database yet (autoconfig.thunderbird.net/v1.1/freenet.de returns 404).

What freenet already publishes

  • freenet serves its own config-v1.1.xml at https://autoconfig.freenet.de/mail/config-v1.1.xml (IMAP 993, POP3 995, SMTP 587), so Thunderbird's ISP lookup already works for freenet.de. Other consumers of the ISPDB — and the <enable> hint below, which the provider's file lacks — are what this entry adds.
  • DNS SRV: _submission._tcp.freenet.de → mx.freenet.de:587; there is no _imaps._tcp-style record for SMTPS.

Contents

All values are taken from freenet's own material, nothing is guessed:

Verification

Hostnames and ports match the provider's help page and its own autoconfig file (checked 2026-09-21). I do not have a freenet account, so this has not been verified with an actual login.

IMAP and SMTP on mx.freenet.de (993/465 SSL, 143/587 STARTTLS), username
is the full address, as published by freenet:

Client access is off until the user enables it in the webmail settings
(<enable>):

Hi @Tozle, thanks for your PR and sorry again for the delay!

Like I mentioned in #206, we do not generally accept configs for providers that already provide their own. I would suggest reaching out to freenet.de's customer support regarding the missing enable section. If I understand your comment correctly and one of the reason for filing this PR is support for other clients, I would recommend reaching out to the developers for the clients in questions to ask if they would consider supporting the complete autoconfig lookup, as the ISPDB is only meant as a fallback mechanism for providers that don't already provide their own file.
