Index optimizations need to account for construction cost and workload-specific search behavior: a smaller final index can still increase build peak memory, and aggregate QPS can hide regressions at different top-k values, filter ratios, or sparse query NNZ.

Add an index-optimization skill and link it from AGENTS.md. The guidance covers build time and peak memory, growing-index insertion, representative query workloads, recall@k by workload, performance at matched recall targets, and reproducible comparisons, with coverage proportional to the change and available resources.
