Adds the position paper Identifier Durability: Machine-Readable Canonical IRIs to
research/, filed as a public comment duringdraft-cdcf-catholic-uri-scheme-03(v0.4.0)'s 60-day window. Announced in #56; discussion at #57.Thesis: "and," not "or" — machine-readable canonical IDs that never drift, and a guaranteed human-readable layer (every existing slug preserved forever as a resolvable alias, multilingual labels, a mandatory label-rendering rule). Written as a small delta to draft 0.4.0: its two-artifact model,
notations, and stability guarantee are kept; only which artifact is primary is inverted. A section-by-section amendments table closes the paper.Contents of this PR:
research/identifier-durability-opaque-canonical-iris.md— the paper (registered indeploy-docs.yml, both build scripts,RELEASING.md, and the README per RELEASING.md's doc-adding rule;lint:md,build:html, andbuild:pdfall green locally).standards/drafts/— the two committee drafts the paper responds to, included verbatim as citable companions so every section reference resolves (both carry CC-BY 4.0 license rows). The committee is invited to relocate these to a canonical home; they are excluded from repo lint/format so their bytes stay untouched. Two questions for maintainers:
standards/drafts/acceptable as the companions' home, or should they live elsewhere?Companion suggested-change PRs are landing in crmedr, cledr, cecdr, ciclsaldr, clbdr, and cmddr, each demonstrating recorded identifier-churn cases from that repository's own history.
