Arham Garg's PR #2493 batches Discussion overlap reads. This adds a source-pinned independent audit of its exact head
a459ee34fad0488691beba8441e0a31e103b91a5, with a separately implemented static API model and a direct record oracle. The batching implementation, original six tests and measured speedup retain Garg's credit. Both baseline and candidate match every field and position across 710 distinct boards / 2,062,777 records per collector. On a separate busy board, 1,314 fault cases cover every request position, three failure types, and existing/missing cache states. Old complete evidence and its original timestamp survive; failed first scans publish no partial Discussion source. Three truncation mutants and three source corruptions are rejected. A fixed small-thread fixture corroborates 104 to 3 requests without a new wall-time claim.
Validation on Windows x64 / CPython 3.12.14:
Both registered normal/optimized commands pass, including the unchanged six predecessor tests in both modes. An optimized Git-free export passes from an unrelated directory with spaces, leaving all ten package files unchanged. Initial CPython 3.14.6 replay also passes.

research/overlap-batching-independent-audit/is added. Research started from current-main-at-entry6ca6f217; the submission is rebased onto refreshed main84f8e607, with unchanged guidance, selection and relevant runner/helper. Historical source pins remain unchanged. The original picker and explicit scope change are recorded in TASK.json. Canonical claim and handoff. The two dependent-package metadata failures reported by PR #2493 also reproduce on untouched main:
overlap-path-indexsource-blob provenance mismatch, andresearch-package-pin-batchingonboarding-test drift. This audit does not edit frozen pins, adopt the collector or resolve that integration decision. The production helper, selected result and mathematical claims remain unchanged. Static API coverage is finite; no concurrency-atomicity, live timing ratio, hosted-CI, human review or formal proof claim.Credit Douglas Colkitt and the overlap-tool contributors, Nick Petalas's CLI-pagination work, and Aaron Wang's existing PR #2255 live-pin audit. Prepared for Arham Tahir with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance in analysis, implementation, checks and writing; no subagents. Apache-2.0.
