Kitchen ticket rail/2-cooking/2026-09-02-driver-seat-pass-policy (klappy/kitchen), product 1 of 4.

Adds canon/methods/driver-seat-lens.md (DRAFT): the operator's driver's-seat prompt, verbatim, as a named planning-lifecycle step — a planning seat looks through the lens on every work unit above the trivial, and on every plan revision, before bind; receipt is a DELTA.md. Anatomy shape (WHAT / WHY / ENFORCEMENT / SCOPE / VERIFICATION, Failure Modes + Required Response, retraction condition).

Metaphor-agnostic (captain ruling 2026-09-03): binding sections use three neutral terms — work unit, planning seat, delta receipt. Kitchen and ARS vocabulary live only in the Example Applications table.

Named "lens" (captain pick 2026-09-03): "pass" is overloaded — the station, the ordering pass, the firing pass, the Triangle Pass. Ticket folder keeps its ordered name.

ALLERGY — HUMAN-ONLY (voice). The prompt block under WHAT is the captain's text, copied byte-for-byte from the kitchen ticket and script-verified after every recut. Captain reads the exact text before this leaves draft. No auto-merge.

Kitchen wire (LIFECYCLE.md step 3, CHECKLIST gate 13 "Lens receipt", shim line): klappy/kitchen #78 (draft). First receipt: kitchen 2026-09-02-door43-mcp-v2-planning.

Note

Low Risk
Documentation-only draft canon; no runtime or merge automation, though it will steer future planning gates and receipt expectations once adopters wire it.

Overview
Introduces canon/methods/driver-seat-lens.md as a new DRAFT canon method that turns the operator’s driver’s-seat prompt (verbatim, HUMAN-ONLY voice) into a named pre-bind planning step: a planning seat runs it in exploration/planning only, edits design docs for agent legibility, and leaves a DELTA.md receipt (changes, rejections, system picture).

The doc defines ordering (lens before oddkit_challenge), scope (non-trivial work units and plan revisions; smallest classes exempt when explicitly marked), and adopter enforcement (lifecycle step, pre-execution presence gate or driver-seat: exempt, boarding pointer) with honest L3/L4 limits. Binding language stays metaphor-agnostic (work unit, planning seat, delta receipt); Kitchen/ARS mappings live only in an example table, plus verification, failure modes, and a retraction falsifier.

Canon Quality — P0010 Retrieval-Readiness ⚠️

Soft report for klappy://canon/constraints/retrieval-disclosure-contract. 715 files scanned. Never blocks — informational until the corpus is ready to enforce.

  • Blocking-class findings: 19 (structural fields the contract would filter on)
  • Warnings: 0 (kind resolves to unknown)
  • Informational: 13 (exempt templates/archive/drafts)

Kind distribution: {'essays': 53, 'canon': 251, 'apocrypha': 38, 'docs': 307, 'journals': 60, 'unknown': 6}
Kind source: {'path': 577, 'frontmatter': 132, 'none': 6} (frontmatter-primary, path-secondary)
Default-include visibility: 611 visible, 104 hidden (journals/apocrypha/unknown)

By rule: {'audience-invalid': 4, 'exposure-missing': 7, 'tier-missing': 5, 'tier-invalid': 7, 'fm-missing': 3, 'kind-unresolvable': 6}

These are not schema violations (see the Frontmatter Schema job for those on writings/). They are corpus-readiness signals for the retrieval contract: invalid/missing audience, exposure, tier, and docs whose kind cannot be resolved. Fix in a corpus-cleanup PR before the contract flips to enforcing. See the retrieval-readiness-findings artifact for the full list.
