- Around line 42-47: Update the tier selector in the component containing
`setPreview` to use an i18n label that makes clear an unset tier leaves the
existing Claude setting unchanged; do not present the empty option as resetting
to Claude’s native model. Preserve the existing retained-value behavior.
Review comments at @src/claude/model-default-settings.ts:
- Line 70: Update the replacement flow around atomicWriteFileNoFollow to prevent
overwriting a settings.json change made after current.raw is validated;
coordinate writers or condition the write on the destination still matching the
validated snapshot, and ensure the backup reflects the version actually being
replaced.
- Line 23: Update the settings-loading logic around `raw` and `JSON.parse` to
distinguish a missing file from an existing empty file: accept an empty settings
object only when the file is absent, and reject an existing file with empty
content as corrupt. Add an empty-file case to
`claude-intercept-settings.test.ts` that verifies the invalid file is refused.

@coderabbitai review Readiness synchronized to dev a63267c with merge 025bbe5. Maintainer model/owned-label pairing and unset-tier preservation changes remain intact; merge was clean with no manual conflict resolution. Current-tree focused validation: 113 tests pass across runtime/API/layout and GUI, root/GUI typechecks and privacy/structure/file-size/diff checks pass; docs build passes. Exact commands and explicit full-suite limitations are recorded in the PR body. Please review the current merge head; readiness does not claim maintainer CI approval or merge. |

Scoped latest-dev follow-up at 08aeeb331c0428f0ec8bbf9c8d76d85b68ec1ab1 against 3bb7a5612c35c8079f5683a6d408a6907cf98bbe.
I inspected the tier settings projection and explicit preview/apply route. Unset tiers remain untouched; a label is managed only when paired with its current model alias, and custom/empty/non-string labels are preserved. POST uses a fingerprinted preview, while settings_changed and recovery_required outcomes remain distinct; the route registry marks POST as a mutation. These are narrow source checks, not independent file-publication fault-injection or OS-permission qualification.
Your new 113-test receipt explicitly uses Bun 1.4.3 and identifies older-head receipts separately. I did not rerun it: foreign Cargo/rustc builds occupy the shared host. Current-head Cross-platform CI 38320030271 remains action_required, so mechanical hygiene/target success and readiness do not prove runtime/platform coverage.
Required independent management/settings-boundary review and final owner GUI acceptance remain open; no scan, sponsorship, workflow authorization, approval, live settings write or merge was performed.

@Ingwannu Thank you for the scoped review. No further source change was requested by that review. Current head remains 08aeeb3, preserving the existing Bun 1.4.3 113-case exact-head receipt. It is still within the ten-commit dev window, so an unnecessary merge/push would only invalidate completed review. The existing tests cover managed model-label pairing, stale-preview rejection, settings recovery and GUI save boundaries; commands/results remain in the description. Required independent management/settings-boundary review, owner GUI acceptance and maintainer-authorized exact-head CI are explicitly still open. Please treat the current author-side evidence as ready for those independent gates, not as their substitute. |

…exemptions Dev's capability/route parity gate requires every management route to be covered by a CLI capability or explicitly exempt. The preview/apply pair is a GUI-only fingerprint workflow, which is exactly the interactive-preview exemption.

Exact-head validation after dev refresh
Current head:
08aeeb331c0428f0ec8bbf9c8d76d85b68ec1ab1. Cleanly merged dev3bb7a5612c35c8079f5683a6d408a6907cf98bbethrough an ordinary merge; no force push or manual source conflict resolution. Maintainer changes are preserved.Tests use the repository-required Bun 1.4.3 from an isolated temporary runner, isolated HOME and synthetic settings. The older Bun 1.4.0 runner was rejected by the version preflight before tests ran; no check was bypassed and no operating runtime or project dependencies were replaced.
The 113 focused tests verify the affected tier-setting, preview/apply and GUI contracts. The existing shared-host full-suite exception remains: recorded CPU/RAM/swap exhaustion makes a broad simultaneous run inappropriate here; no full-suite or cross-platform CI pass is claimed. Existing docs warnings remain. New-head automated review is independent of readiness. All validation below applies only to its named historical heads. No live settings, credentials or services changed.
Readiness reconciliation after latest dev synchronization

Merged deva63267c1349f178b52cf7e5d4d158e8f1e4be075cleanly without rewriting history, preserving maintainer fixes throughc311f68c13aa59fc56d7b7628904617a05007dbd. No manual conflict resolution or new behavior was added. The validation verifies managed model/label pairing, unset-tier preservation, custom labels, stale-preview refusal, settings recovery, explicit apply and GUI save boundaries.Pinned Bun 1.4.0, isolated HOME, fake settings, two runtime workers:
The 113-test focused run covers the changed contracts. Full-suite scope exception: the shared host has a recorded CPU/RAM/swap exhaustion history and the task is latest-dev/readiness reconciliation, so no full repository run or platform coverage is claimed; those remain for maintainer-approved exact-head CI. Existing docs chunk/content warnings remain. Existing dependencies were reused, not installed or overwritten. All older validation below applies only to its named historical heads. No live user settings, credentials or services were changed. CodeRabbit reviewed the prior maintainer head successfully; renewed review is requested for this merge head, independently from readiness.
Summary
Add Opus/Sonnet/Haiku/Fable selectors to Claude Code and an explicit preview/apply operation for Claude user settings on the OpenCodex host. Applications launching Claude directly can use these tier defaults. Apply leaves unset tiers untouched, backs up the captured settings privately, rejects stale previews, and publishes without replacing another writer's file.
Explicit aliases now update their paired
ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_*_MODEL_NAMEusing the existing display-name helper. Generated labels follow explicit model replacements; custom, empty, and non-string labels survive. An unset or blank tier preserves both its existing model and label. Main-model, effort, credentials, hooks, and Desktop profiles retain their existing behavior. Docs and GUI locales cover the explicit workflow.Verification

It reviewed all 33 changed files and ran three focused files: 54 pass, 0 fail, 277 assertions. The prior unset-tier label-deletion finding was reproduced at the previous SHA and verified fixed at this head. Review covered management authentication/origin/CSRF, credential serialization, private backups, stale capture, concurrent publication, and rollback.
Resource exception: five worktree lanes share this host.
bun run test:changedwas attempted with a 120-second bound, waited on another lane's global Bun lock, and was terminated with SIGTERM (return code -15) before tests ran. This is not a pass. Review readiness checklist
This PR stays in draft until every box below is ticked. Tick all four boxes once the requirements are met:
Required local validation passed; commands, results, and any full-suite exception are documented.
I pushed my PR to a recent dev commit (at most 10 behind; a maintainer may still ask for the exact tip before merge).
I resolved all correct Codex and CodeRabbit findings.
My PR is ready for review.
