I'm learning decompilation and reverse engineering from the ground up: how compiled games and programs work, and how to turn them back into readable source. I document everything as I go.
I'm focusing on GBA games, because the variety of design across so many developers gives me a smorgasbord to learn from.
What I'm working on
- decomp-library: my learning library on decompilation tools, techniques, game projects and study paths
- gba-decomp-toolkit: a bring-your-own-ROM toolkit for setting up matching GBA decomp projects
- decomp-toolkit-scripts: setup and helper scripts for a decomp workstation
- decomp-practice: original C exercises for practising matching on x86, MIPS and PowerPC
World of Warcraft: Forever addons (free on CurseForge and Wago)
- NeutralFlip: finds buy-low, sell-high gaps between your faction auction house and the neutral one (Wago)
- PriceLog: keeps a history of auction prices as you search (Wago)
- MatTooltip: tells you on the tooltip whether to sell, hold or vendor your materials (Wago)
- GoldPerSpot: tracks how much gold per hour each farming spot really makes (Wago)
- Dwarf Explorer's Bible: pick a material and see everything it crafts into, with auction prices, profit and crafting chains, like Terraria's Guide (coming to Wago at launch, Nov 4)
Plugins for the big raid and questing addons (coming to Wago at launch, Nov 4):
- BRBoss:
/brb 5starts a DBM or BigWigs break bar and ends it with a vanilla boss line - WipeAndWin: vanilla boss lines as DBM and BigWigs victory and wipe sounds
- FloorIsLava: a Details! board of who took the most avoidable damage
- QuestieJobsDone: the peon's "Job's done!" when a Questie quest is finished
- ParchmentBars: an old-parchment bar style for BigWigs
- GruntCount: BigWigs countdowns voiced by critters and peons
Currently exploring: GBA decomps (Golden Sun, Zelda), compilers, ARM assembly, AI-assisted decompilation, and game addons and mods.
All projects use original code and documentation only. No ROMs or copyrighted game code.
