Summary

  • Record received devices directly from a saved installation plan using the shared inventory editor, committing actual fields, material allocation and required holds atomically.
  • Automatically check lost save results without repeating creation. Coordinate browser tabs per material unit so an unavailable old result does not block other devices, and reuse the ordinary inventory picker when needed.
  • Preserve the enclosing plan and unrelated draft input, retain actual fields after rejection, and support independent record-and-next entry with current access checks.

Testing

Validation covers disk-backed Rust receipt regressions, formatting, Clippy, Vue builds, documentation checks and real Chromium desktop, phone and keyboard journeys. Required CI provides the full platform matrix and CodeQL.

Closes #63

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Create an unplaced device from a saved physical plan and assign it to a specific material unit without copying planned specifications into its details.
    • Record units individually, move to the next available unit, and recover interrupted receipt requests without creating duplicates.
    • Receive devices from draft, reserved, or partially completed plans while preserving required holds and recording actual device details.
    • After a confirmed rejection, create the device in inventory without assigning a plan unit.
    • Review the current receipt and open a received device’s saved plan.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Receipt updates preserve unrelated draft edits and prevent saving when the reviewed plan has changed.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on receipt workflows, retries, recovery, and inventory-only creation.

The change adds atomic device creation and allocation for physical-plan units. It adds receipt outcome replay and recovery, integrates the workflow with the planner and device editor, and adds disk-backed and browser tests.

Changes: Physical plan device receipt

Layer / File(s) Summary
Receipt contract and outcome records
proto/omloom/v1/workspace.proto, crates/omloom-contracts/build.rs, crates/omloom-store/src/disk/workspace/addresses/knowledge.rs
The API adds receipt submission, lookup, and recovery messages. Mutation records store receipt details and support replay.
Transactional receipt handling
crates/omloom-store/src/disk/workspace/physical.rs, crates/omloom-store/src/disk/workspace/physical/receiving.rs, crates/omloom-store/tests/workspace/physical*
The workspace validates the plan, context, material, unit, and limits before creating and assigning a device. Tests cover replay, recovery, rejection, concurrency, and plan workflows.
Receipt editor and recovery
web/app/AssetEditor.vue, web/app/ReceivedDevice.vue, web/app/PhysicalMaterials.vue, web/app/PlacementSearch.vue, web/app/material-unit.ts, web/app/receipt-reference.ts
The editor submits receipt fields through the receipt callback. The receiving form supports recovery, existing-device assignment, and inventory-only creation after confirmed rejection.
Planner integration and journey coverage
web/app/PhysicalPlanner.vue, web/app/App.vue, web/browser/received-device.spec.mjs, web/browser/inventory.spec.mjs, docs/inventory.md
The planner starts receipts, applies outcomes, handles draft conflicts, and advances to free units. Browser tests and documentation cover receipt, recovery, rejection, and comparison workflows.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 64425

Receiving devices works end to end, but some recovery edge cases remain. Opening one unit can interfere with another unit's in-flight save. A recovery check can wrongly block saving an edited plan. A stale retry after an expired outcome can be reported as not committed. Fix these before merging.

[#63] The receipt API, store logic, recovery references, editor and planner changes, tests, and documentation support the requested inventory journey. The inventory browser test synchronization supports reliable navigation during inventory workflows.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 2.44% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 41 functions across 11 files. Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

[#63] The receipt flow uses the shared editor and picker and commits actual fields, an exact allocation, and required holds together. The store and browser tests cover rejected and concurrent attempts, replay, recovery, draft preservation, and independent entry. The PR reports desktop, phone, and keyboard validation. The available evidence does not establish that existing-card reuse preserves placement, that cancellation retains inventory and unresolved holds, or that replay read cost remains unchanged.

Resolution

Provide reviewable code or test evidence for existing-card placement preservation and cancellation behavior, and evidence comparing replay read cost.

targets remain restricted to the caller’s original focused position, including
when the rack is the root; admit allocated items separately without clearing or
broadening that focus restriction.
- Around line 115-120: In the receiving preflight path, classify the
invalid-explanation refusal as definitive for the current fresh request, so the
browser can leave recovery and proceed with later receipts or inventory-only
creation. Preserve recovery behavior for earlier attempts; use the existing
refusal-marker mechanism without changing other validation outcomes.

Review comments at @crates/omloom-store/tests/workspace/physical/receiving.rs:
- Around line 228-230: Add a cancelled-plan case to the receiving test that
exercises receive_material after device creation succeeds; assert that it
returns the expected error and that inventory remains unchanged.
- Line 261: Update the older-backup receipt test around store.export to export
before the unrelated mutation, submit the receipt at the resulting newer
revision, then restore the backup and verify its revision matches the receipt
base. Assert that replay is rejected without writes so the test exercises the
recovery fence rather than revision-mismatch handling.

Review comments at @web/app/AssetEditor.vue:
- Around line 70-78: Update the receipt preparation flow in the props.receipt
watcher so a definitive stale-revision conflict lets the user explicitly review
and reprepare using the current working context. Preserve entered receipt
fields, keep retries manual rather than automatic, and use the existing conflict
signal and preparation flow.

Review comments at @web/app/PhysicalPlanner.vue:
- Line 462: Update the material-removal flow associated with the receipt editor
in PhysicalPlanner so removing the selected receipt’s material clears
receiptUnit before the next render; preserve the selection when its material
remains valid.
- Around line 68-69: Update the receipt-application flow around invoke and
acceptPlan so applying a successful receipt does not overwrite draft edits made
after the receipt was opened, including edits made while the request is in
flight. Reconcile the returned saved plan with the current draft, preserving
those edits while still applying the receipt result.
- Line 65: Update receivedDevice so an accepted receipt is not passed to run
while a planner read is pending and then dropped. Defer processing the outcome
until the planner is available, ensuring the plan is refreshed and “Record and
next” still advances; preserve the outcome and its recovery reference until
processing completes.
- Line 517: Restrict the step receipt button in the placement-step template to
receivable plan states, using the same state predicate as the material receiving
controls. Preserve its existing placement, target, and device-kind checks and
the `startReceipt` behavior.

Review comments at @web/app/ReceivedDevice.vue:
- Line 7: Refresh the reviewed plan snapshot after the user explicitly reviews
the current material and unit, rather than keeping the initial clone from
props.plan. Update the flow around PhysicalPlan.clone so retries use the latest
reviewed plan revision while preserving the user’s entered input.
- Around line 38-43: Serialize device-creation admission across tabs around the
`reference()` check and `localStorage` write so concurrent submissions cannot
both proceed. Track each unresolved reference by its own submission, and only
clear it when that submission’s outcome is resolved; a delayed rejection must
not remove another tab’s reference for a committed receipt.

Review comments at @web/browser/received-device.spec.mjs:
- Line 52: Update the fixture to accept planned specifications and attach them
to the planned material; call it with a planned width in the receipt test.
Retain the assertion that width is absent from actual fields for both received
devices.

Automatically check uncertain saves without repeating creation. Fence unused revisions through the existing root CAS and retain unavailable results only for the affected material unit. Reuse current inventory selection and assignment instead of adding a reconciliation workflow.

Cover lost replies, old outcomes, restored stores, concurrent actors and independent desktop and phone receiving.

Do not report a missing-outcome stale replay as not-committed.

When mutation-outcome/B has expired, creation_outcome returns None. A later request with working.expected == B can then fail selection(context, working, true) because the current revision is greater than B. Line 345 wraps that stale-revision conflict in Error::Rejected, so the API reports omloom-mutation-outcome: not-committed even though the original request may have created the device and allocation.

Keep the one-commit no-outcome case as a definitive rejection. When the current revision is greater than base + 1, return the unresolved Error::Conflict before the fresh-admission closure:

@coderabbitai Fixed the outside-diff finding about a missing old receipt outcome. A fresh replay after cleanup now retains unresolved Conflict instead of certifying non-acceptance. The disk-backed regression failed before the fix and passes afterward, with unchanged store usage and no repeated creation.

### Bound retention and verify recovery and reclamation

Cleanup must be bounded, resumable and safe across replicas and interrupted runs.
Logical deletion does not prove that blobs, old MVCC versions or disk allocation
were reclaimed. Include indexes, journals and maintenance headroom in storage
claims. Never expire unresolved effects, active holds or required restore/replay
checkpoints to make quota available. Bound admission and expose unresolved work;
backups must not resurrect expired authority or completed effects.

### Justify persisted data and its full lifecycle

For new fields, rows, indexes, snapshots, counters or partitions, identify the
actual delivered consumer or recovery invariant. Check the authoritative owner,
write trigger, lookup pattern, cardinality, bounds and reclamation. Flag duplicate
authority, unchanged-input writes, read-triggered persistence and historical
payloads without consumers. A transport field is not a storage requirement.
Small fencing, replay and recovery records have real consumers; do not recommend
deleting them merely to reduce bytes. Expired evidence or deadlines do not prove
that an external effect never happened or that reserved capacity is free.

### Protect current reads and minimize write amplification

Reads must not persist access counters, last-read times, cache touches or new

Trace the actual producer, transformations, authorization, consumers and commit

# Omloom engineering and review guidance

## Code Review Rules

### Review work and tests at the required granularity

Flag whole-graph reads, N+1 queries, unnecessary decoding, allocations and writes
against the actual requested projection. An index or materialized copy needs a
demonstrated access-pattern benefit and a consistent update lifecycle.
For a correctness defect, identify a regression scenario that fails on the
unfixed path and preserves the surrounding valid behavior. Test the owning
boundary and real consumers. Do not recommend weaker assertions, silent fallbacks,
larger timeouts or unrelated full-suite reruns as a substitute for diagnosis.
Use stable Rust, nextest for Rust tests, and separate doctests.

## Code Review Rules

### Preserve partial knowledge and reduce user decisions

Unknown, explicitly zero, absent, stale, restricted and conflicting facts are
different states. Request missing facts only when the particular operation needs
them. Drafting and recording actual work must not require certification of an
entire infrastructure. Conversely, unknown required facts cannot certify fit,
free capacity or working service. Do not require redundant user input when the
authoritative context already determines it, invent an identity from a label,
or multiply modes and controls without a concrete user task.

## Summary
- Record received devices directly from a saved installation plan using
the shared inventory editor, committing actual fields, material
allocation and required holds atomically.
- Automatically check lost save results without repeating creation.
Coordinate browser tabs per material unit so an unavailable old result
does not block other devices, and reuse the ordinary inventory picker
when needed.
- Preserve the enclosing plan and unrelated draft input, retain actual
fields after rejection, and support independent record-and-next entry
with current access checks.

## Testing
Validation covers disk-backed Rust receipt regressions, formatting,
Clippy, Vue builds, documentation checks and real Chromium desktop,
phone and keyboard journeys. Required CI provides the full platform
matrix and CodeQL.
