Summary

Pure rename, no behaviour change. The per-actor volume record on ActorStatus.actor_volumes describes what one actor mounted, not a volume with a lifetime of its own. This frees the ExternalVolume name for the atespace-scoped shared volume resource (design: go/substrate-shared-volumes).

PR 1 of 4 for shared external volumes, Milestone 1:

  1. this PR: rename ExternalVolume to ActorVolumeStatus
  2. atelet: add the empty_dir volume source #9 atelet: add the empty_dir volume source (independent)
  3. ateapi: add the ExternalVolume resource #10 ateapi: add the ExternalVolume resource (stacked on this PR)
  4. ateapi: let actors reference ExternalVolumes #11 ateapi: let actors reference ExternalVolumes (stacked on 2 and 3)

Test plan

  • go test ./cmd/ateapi/internal/controlapi/ ./cmd/kubectl-ate/... ./internal/resources/...
  • cd tools/apitool && go run . validate
  • hack/verify/codegen.sh, hack/verify/gofmt.sh

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

The per-actor volume record on ActorStatus.actor_volumes describes what one
actor mounted, not a volume with a lifetime of its own. Free the ExternalVolume
name for the atespace-scoped resource that shared volumes introduce.
